How To Rev The Engine In An Automatic Car-Driving Tutorial

In this video, I show you how to rev the engine in an automatic car. It's actually a really simple process, and keeping the gear selector in park or neutral will allow you to rev the engine without transferring the power to the wheels! It is also important that you engage the parking brake when revving the engine in neutral to make sure that the car doesn't roll away!

A good thing to add: wait until it’s been idle or driving for a minute if you live somewhere particularly cold. Pushing a older car close to redline on a cold engine can hurt its longevity, or even cause a latent problem to suddenly present itself due to the stress.

I think neutral is better than park because accelerating in park can damage the differentials

you should put the parking brake on when stopping because leaving it just in park isnt a break, its just holding the gearbox which is bad for your gearbox and can cause significant damage over time
