If you make the glass bit out of either borosilicate or quartz glass (if you haven't already) it would be substantially stronger. Also different colors of glass often have different metals in them which changes the strength of the glass so you could maybe try making a few bits with different colors.

The result really depends on what type of glass you use. Glass can be very strong, the problem is with fracturing at lines between crystals. If you can reduce or completely remove these fracture lines suddenly you will be surprised what is possible with glass.

Nice, the glass endmill punches into wood then snaps off at full depth of cut. It might work better if immersed in liquid Nitrogen before use.
