Bro, I moved into my man's place and he haas a pine tree in the back yard. I been racking the needles away from the house and the dirt that I have uncovered is just so soft and dark, those pine needles were helping that soil, I could tell.

And it’s easy to pull back for planting or fertilizing plants, it doesn’t get mixed in with the soil until it’s broken down.

Can you use pine cones as part of the bottom layer of organic materials when making a “lasagna” in a raised bed?

Do they have to be composted or can I just go bag a bunch of dried pine needles in my area?

They seem to give my plants diseases when I use the ones I rack up.

Green?! Who in the world would use green pine?!
By the way, in the South, pine needles are on the tree. Pine straw is on the ground.
