Joker: Folie à Deux is an upcoming American musical psychological thriller film directed by Todd Phillips from a screenplay co-written with Scott Silver. The sequel to Joker (2019), loosely based on DC Comics characters, Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as the Joker, with Lady Gaga joining the cast as his love interest, Harley Quinn. Zazie Beetz also reprises her role from the previous film, while Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener also join the cast. It is produced by Warner Bros. Pictures and DC Studios in association with Joint Effort.

I don't like the idea of killing him off. But if they had to, I would have preferred if both Arthur and Harley die in a police shootout in a Bonnie & Clyde like fashion

It's not Arthur who gets the Glasgow smile it's Jacob lofland (the inmate who kills him) who is the real joker then... But 2 movies about the 'Not' Joker is pathetic even though Arthur couldn't worry Batman ffs to be fair

Bottom line here is the ending is saying that Arthur wasn't the real Joker. The other inmate was thus making the first film completely pointless.

So the whole movie was a waste? Crazy how the 1st film was marketed as an origin story for the joker, even had the whole thing with arthur fleck meeting bruce as some foreshadowing, joker being born and bruce's parents dying leading him to the path of becoming batman but then we have this sequel that says disregard all that this in fact isnt even the real joker, unclear whether or not there would be a batman in this universe at some point, harley quinn isnt really harley quinn from what ive heard so far and the main character we've followed for 2 films just dies at the end rendering this whole thing pointless. At this point i would've rathered the cancelled jared leto/margot robbie joker and harley quinn film to whatever this film even tried to be. A musical courthouse drama that fails on every level to be anything of worth

Can’t be Heath’s Joker. Dent became Two Face while Bruce Wayne was an adult and batman in the Dark Knight.

This is a completely separate origin for Harvey as Bruce is a child in this universe

That’s why it’s a waste. Why even make a sequel? Joker (2019) stands good on its own. No sequel required. The movies might as well have been called Arthur instead of Joker. If it weren’t for the Joker title, it wouldn’t have made a billion dollars, the first film. Killing him off totally retcons what the first movie did. Like I stated above, the first movie is good as a stand alone film, no sequel required.

I like the ending. It’s showing an uncaring society created the joker. Everyone hates Arthur or worse doesn’t see him but they love the joker . It’s backwards. I’m assuming he had to go back to being the joker to survive the stab wounds. It’s actually kind of interesting.

Sounds like they're inferring that the guy in the end is heath ledgers joker and this was the lead up to dark knight

You might not like it, but it makes sense. Harley broke up with him because she realizes he's not Joker, he's Arthur. As he dies (if he does) his last act is dying as Joker. If he survives, he's permanently Joker and no longer Arthur as that's what the scars represent. I'm not saying you're wrong for not liking that ending. I'm saying the critique of the ending making no sense isn't valid, because there is a poetic connection with why Harley called it off, and the self mutilation as his last thing he does.

Ironically, because his life ended with her breaking up with him for that reason and him dying like that makes him more Joker than the image of The Joker projected that Harley and the greater people could only perceive. The Real Joker IS Arthur, you don't get the Joker without the tragedy of Arthur. Harleys understanding of Joker as a split between Joker and Arthur, as well as any other people perceiving him that way is incorrect because if she doesn't love Arthur WITH Joker, she never understood Joker, the embodiment of all the tragedy of Arthur's life that one personality cannot reconcile.

I wouldn't be surprised if fans started making theories that these movies are prequels to the Nolan trilogy and the guy who killed Arthur and slashes his own cheeks implied he's Joker from TDK. This is too stupid to not be the case. 🤣

I called it when the first one came out, I told a friend while watching it that this “Joker” would be the one to inspire and influence a fan of his joker personality to become the real Joker that we know today in our mainline dc universe. The guy who kills Arthur at the end is our Joker that we know and love. That’s why Harley broke up with him bc she saw that the “Joker” was just a personality for Arthur and not who he truly was.
