Chain Link Fence SECRETS || How to Buy 200% STRONGER Fence for HALF the Price!

If you're considering installing a chain link fence, I'd highly recommend calling around your area to locate a farm supply, or fence supply company who you can buy chain link fences that are much more durable and cheaper than what you can find at big box stores.

The first fence I installed at my home DIY-style (4 foot, black, vinyl-coated) costed me nearly $3,000. It looks nice and encloses my backyard well, but the top rails, line posts and terminal posts are all surprisingly thin gauge metal.

The second fence I installed at my parents' home recently (4 foot, galvanized, thicker terminal/line posts and top rails) costed me about $550. While the fence is shorter (only about 100 feet long) and doesn't have a gate, all things considered I still feel like I was able to build a fence that is about twice as strong/thick for half the cost.

I put up a Chain Link extension to my existing the actual chain link and post rails. but used 1" PVC pipe and other PVC fittings for for the top rail, etc. The fence is not "weight bearing" ....just a cosmetic extension. The results have been tremendous. Used high quality grey spray primer to "pull" it all just over 1/2 the cost of using solely chain link hardware. Did it just as Covid was hitting (just before prices went insane)....been over 2 yrs and it still looks perfect....indistinguishable from my other fencing.

Me and 2 of my coworkers watched this and actually what cost him is that it’s vinyl and black coated materials. That is twice as expensive as galvanized mesh and product. Also the “coloured” posts are supposed to be thinner because it’s more of a compromise between ornamental and galvanized fence.

Great advice.. Course I'll have to watch this several times but I'm sure I'll get it all right soon😉

Man inflation is crazy, those $5 line posts back in 2020 are more like $15 now.

I put up fence and it depends what type of fence you're using usually in residential to use the cheaper grade stuff but if it's a state or federal job then everything has to be scheduled 40 and the chain link has to be 9 gauge the cheaper ones are like 11.5 gauge those are the type that you get at Menards and Home Depot and Lowe's fencing ain't cheap though

I agree I did the same but where I messed up was the people I hired they did it all wrong and I lost big-time. Now I have to redo or reinforce everything I'm thinking of instead of the tension cable at the bottom I'm going to put rebar 20 ft joints all across the bottom maybe drilling holes through the poles and pass rebar through them. The dudes didn't know how to install the tension cable wire and it looks embarrassing. I tried to help them by giving them work and it's frustrating but now since they're here I have to teach or explain what I want.

As a fence contractor. We do shop around for better prices. For customers. As for chain link fabric. Most folks want the cheaper fence. And they will tell you that

You have to know the vinyl-coated stuff isn't a fair comparison to galvanized, right? If you switched to galvanized for your second fence, that comparison may not be the most fair.

I need to put a fence around my koi pond. My pond is at a corner of my property so 2 sides are already fenced in with a wooden privacy fence. So basically i need two sides to fence it off. About 60-70 ft worth plus a gate. But I dont know the exact supplies i need to buy, caps, hardware etc.. Can you help figure this out for me? Ive never done this in my life.
