Trenching in Electricity to the New Pole Building

Today we are trenching from our electric meter to our new pole building. We are going to install conduit underground between them. The conduit will help protect the wire, since it runs under our driveway. When we are done we will have power in the Pole Barn, so we can finally start using it.

Did you install ground rods at the new sub panel since it’s a separate structure?

I am so proud of you both, but Evan you need to treat Rebecca like a queen. What would you do without your wife ....?...?Everything is going alone really good for you and looking fantastic. And yes it’s garden time, Evan be safe in all you do.love ya.

usually your local electrical inspector wants to see the trench before backfilling and i see you didn't use direct burial tape, back fill six inches and then tape goes in the trench...this is a safety issue ... i hope this does not come back to bite you..!!!

What size cable did you use? What kind of cable?

If you had a contractor do that it would likely be $10, 000.

The question more importantly is, about how much did you save by doing this yourself, compared to how much you spent.

150USD for that trencher seems well worth it, diggin a trench by hand is NOT funny.
Ive tried diggin a housewater supply in, and in Denmark you need to get down to 1m/3ft to get below the frost line, i went a few meters, then got someone to come with a trencher.

Great job Evan. This is a job most wouldn't be able to tackle on their own. I am impressed with your skills. Rebeccah, you really got a great handy man there. I can't imagine how much this would have cost had you hired it out to an electrical contractor. Yall have a Blessed day.

That bag trick must have been pretty satisfying to see it worked so well.
