It may not be impressive to high level lifters. But compared to the general population, you may as well be Hercules.

People that punch down just highlight how insecure they actually are

It's always funny to see cocky powerlifters like that first dude.
Certainly, to get to the point he's currently at, he hit 315 at one point.
Also, by virtue of saying that 315 isn't impressive, it makes his numbers also less impressive.

It’s so weird to go back and forth from a commercial gym and a powerlifting gym. Anytime I have 3 plates on squat/dead or 2 plates on bench people look at you like you’re Hercules but when you go to a powerlifting gym it’s literally peoples warmup. Completely different environment

315 would break most of the general population in half. Sure, it’s not enough to be a competitive strength athlete, but it’s an impressive feat of strength for the dedicated recreational lifter.

If someone is excited about their hard earned progress and your gut instinct is to extinguish that excitement, you need therapy.

I remember the absolute joy I felt when I hit just two plates on squat. I was wearing a belt, maybe hit parallel, and my knees wobbled like crazy.

But everyone I showed the video to was happy for me despite the squat “not counting” and encouraged me to keep up the work and try to improve form over time.

Currently at a 435 squat with all those issues gone because I’ve been able to be a part of an encouraging community of lifters.

At least he shouldn't have embarrassed himself with that above parallel squat if he really is that arrogant of a f*ck.

Keep in mind, people. Social Media, and the increasing popularity of Strength Training sports is warping people's perceptions, in this regard.
If you go to pretty much any public gym, you will rarely (if ever) see people squatting 3 plates or more. If you are squatting three plates or more, you are most likely one of, if not the strongest dudes there, most times, and everyone will be in awe/mirin.' You are already in a very small percentage of the total population when it comes to strength.
For reference, I work at a public gym as a fitness instructor 🤟🏻.

Thank you for this. Spreading positivity, and reminding us that we are improving by becoming better than ourselves, and should not feel lesser than if someone else is better.

I'm pretty happy with my 155kg squat. I know it's not impressive for powerlifting, like at all, but I'm proud, and many people seem to be impressed by it, so that's nice.
It still requires effort, just because there are people who have put so much more effort into it, doesn't make it invalid.
I also still want to get to 200kg some day (440lbs)

My bros and I rib each other in the gym all the time, make fun of each other all the time, tease each other and call each other names etc, but we NEVER, EVER, EVER talk shit on anyone's numbers, no matter their level of experience or whatever. That shit will get you excommunicated in a heartbeat. That shit isn't cash money. Raise each other up.

Currently working 3x10 high bar with 135, and I weigh 225(6ft7).
It is what it is, this is the weight I can handle without SI-joint issues or pain in my hernia mesh repair. Building work capacity, confidence in my body again and strength slowly.
Thankful for just being able to squat and feel good.

Whenever people need to do better than others so they themselves can feel good I always feel bad.

Working a full time job, family kids etc and being able to squat 140kg is pretty impressive

You know what’s impressive, squatting with no equipment (especially no squat plug)
