WHO ARE THE AMISH PEOPLE OF AMERICA?

One thing I love about the USA is the diversity. You can pretty much find people from all cultures, religions, traditions, and walks of life in this country of 330 million people.

One of the most interesting groups of people that I've come across is the AMISH. They are traditional Christian Anabaptists who originally have Swiss German roots, and settled (mostly) in Pennsylvania in the early 18th Century.

I went to Lancaster Country, PA today to learn all about their way of life, and it's fascinating! Have you ever heard of the Amish before?

I’m from New York and I used to spend every thanksgiving in Lancaster PA. It was always fun seeing the Amish bustling around on their horse carriages trying to make an honest living. I remember one time in particular my family and I were at Walmart and an Amish family was checking out infront of us and the poor father of the group couldn’t figure out how to use his credit card ( bless his soul ) I swear my sisters and I had stood there for about 45 minutes while the employees tried to sort everything out for them with nothing but a smile on their face :) the Amish are extremely nice people once you actually meet a couple of them! Thanks for making this video and for helping resurface some memories I haven’t thought about in years.

Hey, the Amish are also known for their cooking. Large meals. Feasts even. 7 Sweets & 7 Sours banquets at Amish restaurants in Lancaster, etc.

Lancaster PA is where I was born and raised Amish for several years until we moved to a Amish community in NY. This is the best video for informing people about and is pinpoint accurate. Thank you

As someone who lives in PA, I see the Amish a lot in the contracting business. A lot of people rely on them for home extensions, and general construction work.

I love Lancaster and Pennsylvania so much. I live 30 minutes away from here and the Amish people are some of the nicest people I have met in my entire life. All around you in every other place in the USA, life revolves around job, time, and money. In the Amish lifestyle, it revolves around community, family, and culture, something you don’t find much of anymore in the world
