Windows 32 Bit vs 64 Bit: What's the Difference (And 64 Bit Software too)

How much of a difference does 64 Bit make?

You've probably seen the choice between 32 Bit and 64 Bit, whether it's when installing Windows, or downloading software. But do you really know what the difference is? Does it really matter which you choose? 64 Bit is the latest technology, so it's almost always the best choice, but it is still important to know why.

Wow Windows 64? I only have Windows 10!

The protection level on system level was possible to realize since 80286 processors. And they used it, dropped it at some extent for 80386 and reintroduced it on 80486 for Windows, while other systems did enforce system protection through processors. But keep in mid, it meant to protect only memory.

What happens if you uninstall the Program Files (x86)?

You mention features that have existed since both 386, 486 and Pentium, both being 32 bit. In fact, the 286 had ring zero protection in protected mode, and that was 16 bits. You also mention UEFI things as well.

Take a class or two, or pick up some books.

Any Intel processor can still boot 16 bit MS-DOS 1.0 through 6.22, and run pretty well any DOS program that doesn't rely on memory locations (or then-empty areas) that have changed.

we will rise my 32 bit windows brothers

The reason I think 32 bit only supports 4 GB of RAM is probably because the use of a 32 bit pointer. Because 4GB is also 2^32 bytes. Which is the same as the amount of pointers possible.

2:30 for some reason my Dell Vostro 1710 had a 64bit processor but 32-bit vista preinstalled on it

You're close, but You are not exactly correct with the physical aspects, & what exactly most home user has.
1. Pure 64bit CPUs' can NOT have 32 Bit OS / Software run on them without a compatibility layer.
2. 64 & 32 bit CPUs' aren't exactly the whole scene.
3. IA64, is the PURE 64bit processer - This processer can not run 32bit OS or programs without them having some massive 64bit compatibility layer/program to emulate a 32bit environment for said programs.
-This is Intel One (currently only really used in specialist & the business sector)
4. The Vast majority of the 64bit CPUs are.. Hybrid CPUs that have both 64 & 32 bit capability. X86_64
-AMD owns this major patent (AMDX86_64), and yes ever consumer CPU that claims it's a x64 bit cpu that doesn't say it's IA64 is using this one.

This set of points, invalidates & confuses your entire video (which is dangerously, to a completely inaccurate level for most of it, simplify to the point of misleading)

4:06 How would programs be modifying the kernel, unless they were given superuser privilege?

Oh, right, on Windows, everything expects to have superuser privilege.

“I’m having trouble installing your app.”
“Turn off antivirus.”
“I’m having trouble running your app.”
“Have you tried running as administrator?”

I'll find my own way out

Can I install 32 bit twice to get 64 bit? Will it work in India?

Actually, they'll be a performance hit for low end users when upgrading to 64bit from 32bit. For example if you upgrade to 64bit but you kept using 2GB of RAM, the system will bog down a bit because 64bit operation will take double or more resources compared to 32bit.

Extremely useful and informative video. Thank you so much I appreciate you explaining the differences. Sometimes your channel is the only one actually explaining certain tech topics in this amount of detail. Thanks again, I've been watching your channel for years btw you are awesome, great work. Keep crushing it!

1:01 Actually, no. Intel had “PAE”, which let the OS handle several times 4GiB worth of physical RAM, even though individual processes could not address more than 4GiB of “virtual” memory.

Lol, am using 32bit on 64bit from 6 years( since 2013) onwards, now I come to know, so am switching to 64bit in 2020, .
