VLC Mediaplayer is the much beloved swiss army knife player for pretty much any occasion. Aside from playing back your media files, it can edit a few things in them as well! So if you want to add in an additional audio track for your video, here’s what you can do!

On the Mac using VLC 3.0.17, it is File -> Advanced Open File, and then just choose the 2 files, and then Choose Stream output and choose what you want. It is super fast, like a few seconds for a 45 minute video, and the file size is about as small as it can be (just the video and audio file sizes combined). If it is using Final Cut Pro, the file size is 2.3GB, but using VLC, it is 250MB. Also, Final Cut Pro needed a few to 10 minutes, while VLC only needed a few seconds only

Tks for the video. How efficient is this for a video file that is 1 hour long? I'm looking for lightening speed solution to append a .wav audio track to an .mp4 video file that should just take 10 seconds for a 1-hour video. Similar to what losslesscut does to append 2 videos.

This only changes the audio while its played in VLC, I want to burn the audio into the mp4 file directly so it can be used by other players. Is there a way to do it in VLC?

Sir I saw your video to add audio in VLC. The audio has been edited but that audio is of Hindi but there the name of the audio track is coming in English. Please let me know how to change audio track names.

Great video! Question - In VLC, how add a narrated voice-over on existing video? ?

Total newbie, but I want to have an audio track of say 10 minutes playing over 3 or 4 contiguous video files which fade in and out at beginning and end of each. Is this doable?

hii - I installed the current version of VLC (3.0.20) on my mac. But I don´t see the tab: media. I tried the options file (-> conver/stream) and advanced open file. But It did not function. Does anyone has any idea what to do?

After much trial and error, I was able to successfully do this. Thank you.

I have an issue though: How do I adjust the volume of the audio I have added?

This helped me a lot! Thank you! Also, if Windows media player doesn't play the sound if you open the converted file, try fiddling with the checkboxes on the Audiotrack codec, mp3 with a high rate worked for me!

So I followed this guide step by step on a PC. I used a video that I had previously stripped the audio (using vlc) and tried to add a new sound track to it. Although I exported this in the correct format, I ended up with the original sound track and NO video, rather than the original video with new sound track. This happened four times. Any thoughts?
