Let’s say you want to insert this audio right here in the middle of the track up here.
Just position your selection tool where you want to insert and go edit, clip boundaries, and hit split.
Now select the time shift tool and move this part away, select the track you wish to add and drag it up.
Use a time shift tool to sort things out, and click on the black lines to remove them.

What if I have a huge timeline with multiple cuts in it and I want to insert a clip into the very beginning of the sequence? Do I have to manually move each clip over to the right until I have a big enough space in the beginning for the clip I want to cut in?

How do you get the second recorded piece cut on both ends? I recorded a correction, but it's connected to the beginning. I can't get it transitioned to the original timeline.
