Here are just a few tips for storing food to extend its shelf life, reducing waste and ensuring you enjoy fresh food all week long!

Tip number 1: Immerse the bases of your stem vegetables (asparagus, kale, chard, spring onions, celery) into a cup with 1-2 inches of water. Refresh the water every couple of days to ensure sustained vitality.

Tip number 2: Prolong the life of your berries by eliminating any green parts or stems. Soak them in a bath of water with a dash of vinegar . Gently dry them with a towel before placing them in an airtight container in the fridge.

Tip number 3: maintain the color and flavor of your herbs by wrapping them in a moist towel and storing them in a sealed container to retain essential moisture.

Tip number 4: Enhance the longevity of root vegetables like carrots and parsnips by cutting them into substantial chunks. Place them in a jar, cover with water, and store in the fridge.

Tip number 5: Maintain the crispiness of your green leafy vegetables by storing them in a container with a dry paper towel, effectively absorbing excess moisture.

Lastly, when organizing your vegetables in the fridge, prioritize placing items expiring sooner at the front and those with a longer shelf life towards the back.

Alessandro vitale has a channel with zero misinformation. His book is awesome and even got an official description in UN food and agriculture organization. If there is channel with honest content is his.

Here's a really simple tip that everybody can use. I learned this when I was attending Community College and doing culinary from one of the teachers. Store a Ziploc bag in your freezer anytime you cut onion, celery, or any other vegetable and you have scraps left over. Just put all the scraps into that bag. Once that bag is full, you have the perfect base for a vegetable stock or to add any flavor to any soup. The best thing about the bag method is that you can store everything in the freezer for a really long time and wait until you've built up enough to make a big batch because it's just me and, usually one of my roommates, that I'm making food for. We don't accumulate a lot of vegetable scraps, and one go usually takes about a week to fill the bag for us. I just thought it would be something that other people might be interested in, so I'm sharing it here. I love your videos, even though I'm not vegan. I use a lot of your methods when it comes to cooking, preserving, and just making the most of what I get. Keep up the good work.

I would slip a small piece of cloth or paper into the jars with the fruit to absorb any condensation. Less chance of mold. :)

I love that your right inner hand tattoo says “grow food” with an adorable little cornucopia/basket of produce 😭 You are a gem in this world

That's actually one of the most useful reels I have ever seen. I didn't know most of these.

Thanks for spreading all that advice. I bet that many people can use them to decrease food waste.
However, the first step to do this would be to buy a bigger fridge, because all those containers (especially the glas jars) take up so much space. ;)
I often just wrap stuff in damp cotton towels and throw it into the fridge.
During winter, I also place things oitside on the terrace/balcony, in a simple wooden box.

If government really cared about food crisis, climate, waste or people they would have been teaching this and encouraging people to grow their own food a long time ago. It's obvious what's really going on. Thanks for the video.
