Another trick, if you just slide the smaller cut piece up so it site on the shorter of the 2 widths you create more of a pizza slice, the point of the slice is the 45 degree you've just cut and it'll slot right into the corner of 2 stud walls joining at 45 degrees, it also allows for the same width face on either edge to join anything too

I have 3 windows in a straight line in front of my house so since I am moving a side door to the front of the house. I thought to myself to frame out a bay window for the 3 windows. This 45 degree angle should help alot
