I was listening to this while adding a little air to one of my tires. I was using a Ryobi air pump with a battery I leave in the car. Yes it's not the place to store it, but, it's a second hand battery I picked up at a recycling center for free.
So the battery didn't cost me anything. If it goes bad, I have the necessary equipment & parts to rebuild the battery for almost free using recycled parts.😎

I still carry cables in my truck, diesel 90s V8. I also have a jump pack I bought from Costco 4 years ago. Have used the jump pack to jump everything from generators to sailboats V8 90s diesel trucks. What I'm getting from this video is your "emergency pack" doesn't contain some pretty basic items. Rope, duct tape, zip ties, handcuffs, etc. Play safe out there.

Many times you'll find that the leads for the battery powered jump packs are way too short to reach the battery you need to jump... Or it puts the jump pack in a position where it will fall down or disconnect if it's unsupported.

So the jumper cables will be needed for situations like that. And also if you're going to torture somebody in a prison cell well the clips on the jump pack hurt a little bit... but to get the high voltage you need the jumper cables from the outlet on the wall or elsewhere 😜

He jokes, but jump packs are made of fail. I worked for several years at a high volume car dealership, & they had _so many_ jump packs... Each needed battery replacement within a handful of years, & even the newest _could not_ start a decent sized engine unless they'd been kept charging until just before use. The bigass rack-mounted one was the only one really worth its money because it had more capacity than a regular car battery.

A jump pack carried around in the car, won't be charged when it's needed... unless your vehicle's got a suitable charging outlet that's only live when the ignition is on, in which case go for it!

I have had the same jump pack for 8 years charge it once a season and still works like a champ.

I live in a frozen tundra.

Let's not forget, jumper cables make good bottle openers for that delicious apple juice and there are 4 of them. So the passenger and the 2 people in back have 1 aswell.

Batteries degrade by being charged to 100% and stored in warm places.
