Getting started on a room makeover can be daunting! So today we're starting the process together as I design a bathroom makeover for my sister-in-law using only renter friendly solutions for under $500! Along the way, I'm sharing my best tips for where to start when it comes to a big makeover project like this, especially when you're on a tiny budget like mine. My sister-in-law and her family have always dreamed of having a designer bathroom in their small yet beautiful craftsman-style home, but just never found the time or knew where to start. So while they're on vacation, I'm taking on the challenge of creating their dream bathroom and surprising them with the final reveal when they return!

I love your channel. I especially like your calm narration throughout each video. The "archway to nowhere" would make a great linen closet. I also love thrifting. I'm really looking forward to more of your videos.

You are the real McCoy!!! Love how you present info in a "real" way! They most of us ordinary people get.

I'm probably very late with this comment, but the shower curtain in your mood board is made using a traditional Korean sewing technique called bojagi. It's very clever because the seams are folded in and sawn in so you don't have to worry about them, and it's very fun and easy to make yourself. You should try! There are tutorials online.

Love the idea of a different color ceiling...maybe extend that into the storage area? Or paint the back wall yellow? If it leads off the living room, maybe bring in a color from there for continuity? Thanks for sharing your process...

Please share a video on how to do a room plan. Everyone goes so fast explaining it and I'm not tech savvy. Love the video.

Another great video. 👏 I love your style and the choices you’re making. That bathroom has so many fun elements to work with. The tile is to die for. 🤩 Love the yellow and orange accents. Can’t wait to see how it all turns out. 🚨Warning: I bought those exact Casa Luna towels, and they look better than they perform. Not very absorbent, sadly.

I just found your channel a few days ago and I really admire your style, as well as how creative and practical you are! I also haven't seen too many design creators who show their planning and budgeting process in so much detail--super helpful :-) Looking forward to the reveal.

I love how engaging your videos are, and this is quite a fun space with rhe vintage tile. You mentioned that guests accidentally turn on the light in the arched nook, which made me wonder if you could swag a light so it was in the main part of the room. That may be entirely unfeasible, but it would be nice not to have the light boxed in. Looking forward to seeing your plan come together!

In keeping with the style of house and bathroom blue penny tiles, I think pops of yellow and orange paint is a wonderful idea for accents!!! I would consider White towels, as they wash well and perhaps the actual hooks can be painted the orange along with the trash can. I love the blue paint in the window and yellow ceiling idea!!! Love your editing and music choice…. New subscriber here and can’t wait to see more from your

Room Design in 7 Steps

Step 1: Document & Evaluate 1:40
Get a visual idea of the space. Take photos and videos. Use for reference.

Step 2: Create an Inventory 3:19
Make a list of everything you might need. What will you add, change, replace?

Step 3: Decide on the Direction 3:52
Create a definitive idea about what you want the space to look like. With this, you can work backwards and decide what is really worth spending money on. Look for inspiration to spark ideas.

Step 4: Make a Pinterest Board & Review It 4:45
Start with a casual collection of images to refine later.

Step 5: Visit the Local Stores to Get Inspiration and Costs 7:42
Get ideas based on what is available.

Step 6: Collect Photos of the Items You Like 14:11
Snap photos of items you like from shopping trips for a mood board, and to reference pricing and to remember what you were attracted to.

Step 7: Create a Mood Board & Review Budget 18:12
Process the thoughts and take a tally of how much money you’re potentially spending.

I just want to caution you about using paper lampshades in bathrooms, because they’ll get damp and mold will grow on them. A material like glass is what you need.

You definitely won't need a whole gallon for the ceiling. I'd start with a quart for sure. Also, a lot of items can be thrifted and sanitized easily... Like the garbage can and decor items if they are solid surfaces or you are going to spray paint or DIY them anyway. Even a white shower curtain or regular curtains to DIY. Just some thoughts. It's gonna be fun when it's done!

I'm wondering if the light switch for the sconces is directly behind the light switch in the arched area. If it is, perhaps you could combine them and get rid of the hall switch. I really kinda don't like the pendant light idea in the arched area. It looks like it crowds the cabinet and eliminates the space on top of the cabinet. I like the idea of soft light coming from above the cabinet (no fixture showing) and maybe some pretty towels (perhaps that orange pop you're looking for) stacked on top of the cabinet. I love the idea of painting the inside of the window frame blue to match the floor. I think if you got rid of (stored in the new cabinet---or under it in a basket) the stuff under the sink---and then spray painted the water pipes in some kind of antiqued metal color, the towel rack around the sink would be perfect as it is. Painting the cabinet that's already there the same blue as the window might be a little too much since the bathroom is so small---perhaps you could clad it with beadboard painted white and decorate it with blue accents. I'm excited to see what you come up with! Good luck!

Obsessed with your channel!! I found it a few days ago and have binged all the videos. Even Christmas and thanksgiving!😂

Looks great! I loved the yellow bath mat from Ikea. Also, if you buy clear glass for the sconces shades, you see the light bulb and that bugs a lot of people. I don't mind the sconces she already has. Maybe you just leave them?
