I love this breathing technique. It’s easy to remember and it’s effective. The other thing I love about it is that you can add a tactical component to it. I find that to be even more effective on calming your mind and bringing yourself back into your body.
You can use this technique when you are feeling stressed out or anxious. I think it’s great to also use it when you are not stressed or anxious. This teaches your mind and body to relax and you body will remember being in a relaxed state when you use it while anxious making it easier to transition back to the relaxed state.
Practice this technique at every red light to make it easy to remember.
Breathe in for four.
Hold for four.
Breathe out for four.
Hold for four.
Continue until the light turns green or you feel calmer.
