Hi, in my extremely humiliating experience this past week, this "Protest behavior", is truly an understatement, in my run the other direction and fast... experience, with my spouse's seven year old son towards me...he says rude things towards me and asked when I'm leaving and he would out loud say "good", and his father forgives him immediately and or without any consequences or consideration of my feelings.
Instead the father rewards his sons rude behavior and rude remarks towards me... because of this, because it being a more than a few times and with diligent discussions of the child now intentionally showing aggressive and ignorantly showing that he rules the roost, is allowed to do that too me by his father's passiveness Child rearing... I have made a decision to go my separate ways and stay single.Thank you.

What is the "understanding" part? I mean, if the child destroys stuff or is shouting a lot, there must be a "punishment" to control this behaviour, the child should be aware of other peoples feelings too, and learn how to respect others. Obviously I am not a psychologist, just a mother. I don't know if I am doing it right, but I did started punishing my 6 years daughter for inappropriate behaviour. Always a drama to make her piano homework, so now just decided she won't have music classes anymore. Throwing stuff on the floor like crazy, some decoration of the damn my little ponies on the wall. So good, I had enough and there´s nothing anymore decorating her room. I am the only person in this world who can educate her, if I don't do it she will become a monster and who knows, a serial killer.

How do I help my child manage his difficulties of not being allowed to climb on the dining table, kitchen cabinets, or stove? He young and does have a vocabulary yet so I can’t exactly talk to him about it

This guy sounds like he wants the kids to raise the parents instead of the parents raising the children.
