Why Self-Host?

This video is a collaboration between Underjord and GleSYS where I outline my understanding of the current legal landscape for EU businesses and companies with EU customers that use US-based cloud services or SaaS.

With GDPR, Schrems II and all that entails with regards to privacy in handling Personal Data I think companies can benefit from considering an alternative approach for many of the services we rely on.

I also think there's additional benefit in not putting all of the machinery of your company in other people's products. You can even try your hand at getting away cheaply, which is a fun sport practiced by companies through the ages.

Google overcensors stuff, so that's one reason that I prefer to self-host

File hosting and document collaboration is important part to replace the american services. Nextcloud with collabora is a very big solution, maybe there are better?
