Should you Self-Host Kubernetes?

With so many managed Kubernetes offerings available, should you consider self-hosting? How about using a higher-level abstraction such as AWS Fargate or Google Cloud Run?

This is the third episode in a new content series in which I plan to build an application platform with Kubernetes. This is the same type of thing that I have helped multiple startup companies build over the past 4 years!

Please consider making a GCP for beginners playlist. There isn't hardly anything to decent learn GCP on youtube, I think there would be a large interest in firebase, cloud run, serverless, ec instances, sql, and static websites with buckets.

I like GCP because it seems more refined and less complicated compared to AWS. I'm having to learn GCP with linked learning because there are no good tutorials on youtube. I just subscribed to your channel and I look forward to watching your videos, thanks for helping.

Self hosting is extremely tasking. I wouldn't do it again unless on a low budget or in my home lab. Here is how to set up the Managed Kubernetes service on both Digitalocean and Vultr:

How would you rate k3s for self-hosted? Seems a whole lot easier than full-blown k8s clusters...
