Here are some simple, non weighted, drills you can do to improve the explosiveness of your footwork. I've been utilizing these for a decade plus and often practice them at home.

All very useful, thank you! Back in the day we did blitz moves with karate. One was where you not only push forward with the rear foot, but you remove the front leg and let your body weight carry you forward as you push. That was very fast. The other effective blitz move was weapon first independent motion.

Adding this to my routine for sure!
Would be awesome if you could explain how you incorporate practicing technique with weight training (ex. strength and endurance-wise)!
Cheers 😁

Hi Gabriel, Amazing Content as usual. So far you've given a lot of 'tips & tricks' on how to use the high guard for both kickboxing and MMA. However we're curious about how to "use" them methodically in a Fight. Can you make a video around "Full/Comprehensive guide on the high guard" where you teach us your A-Z approach on how to use the high guard to block shots with minimal movements, and how to combine them with footwork. I think that would be very interesting to see. Keep it up Brother!

This video is very valuable for me, because I got a bit an issue with this. I'm very mobile if I stick to a slightly bladed stance which I picked up from karate training. I don't stand fully bladed like the sport karateka/point fighters do, because I don't come from that karate background - but you could compare it to a longer, a bit wider boxing stance. However, if I'm fighting from a square stance, I automatically become much more of a classic Thai style fighter with a shallow stance and more plodding footwork, and for some reason I can't do the back and forth bounce any longer. It's exactly like you said, my legs burn up real quick and my movement is way too labored. It doesn't happen if I'm more bladed. the So I'm kinda stuck with choosing between more mobility and outfighting capability, or I'm gonna be more safe from low/calf kicks, shell up more effectively and get the lead leg front kick, but I lose the ability to cover distance and move quickly.
