Going from Marine Corps to Army National Guard

I tried joining the Marine Corps. But unfortunately they wouldn’t let me join due to a medical condition. So my plan B was to join the Guard. They luckily approved my waiver for my medical condition and I’m proud to say I ship out to Army Basic Training in April! 💪🏽

Sounds like the guy who lived three doors down from us, many years ago. He got drafted into the Army for the Korean War, came back and drifted as a civilian for about a year, then enlisted in, and retired from, the Marine Corps.

I’m a 13B in the Alabama National Guard and I’m going on year #2 and I have no regrets. It has been the best decision I have ever made. I have a year left in my contract and I plan on reclassing to a different mos though but my experience has been amazing all in all though.

Curious what this “Marine to Guard” program is. I’ve had great experiences so far, I’m AGR and on my way to 15U school even, I didn’t get any of that, I just got a “Welcome back”…and I did get to lat move, so glad for that.

I've done 2 deployments. The guard was the best. Off duty cops, cooks, masons welders etc. Makes life during deployment a little better. Especially when eating MREs.lol

Ive thought about going marine to guard but the Marine Corps has already demanded so much time of me. Time away from my family, my coaching career, and my civilian career that I dont think I have any interest in doing it for anymore years after 6 years of the Marine Corps paying my like dog shit while they think they should be my number 1 priority and that my whole life outside of the Marine Corps comes second. I get out in a few months. I'm so excited to be free. I'll miss my buddies
