I remember Robot Wars! The house robots were meant to be OP, so they were only supposed to intervene in limited circumstances. IIRC the big cheese was a bit OP too, because it was too effective at flipping the other robots over, which may explain it.

The Naked Fugitive could also be Mark, the author of the book, according to some. This is the most likely I've heard, but no one is sure. Mark wrote everything very deliberately, so the event certainly has meaning. He didn't write in an ephemeral way, creating mystical metaphores with otherwise weird imagery, but he did write what happened and made points using them. So, this event did happen and does have some meaning, but it's difficult to decipher beyond that.
