How many books do you currently get through in a week?

The one thing I will say as someone who reads 3-4 books a month, you can read, but it won't do much. You have to learn to make detailed notes, make questions on things that have caught your attention. Most of all learn to implement what your ready into your life.

it’s kinda crazy how nobody’s talking about Antozent, they are selling 250 self help books for the price of one

I read 2 or 3 books a week. Last year I was reading maybe 2 books a month. You just have to keep practicing and it will get easier

Just pick a book you like....
Divide the number of pages by 7..
Read that many pages a day whatever time it takes!👍

Reading a book a week was a game changer for me in both my personal and professional life. However, I never viewed knowledge as power, more so, as potential power. That knowledge requires massive action in order for it to become a reality. Anyways, keep up the great content Jim, I really enjoy your channel.

Amazing advice.
If I read every week a book that’s equal 48 books a year.
And that’s a huge amount of books .
Be careful what book you read and helps you to improve yourself.

This video motivated me to do something I thought I can never do. I went from not having read an entire book in 3 years to reading over 8 books in less than 2 months!
Something that seemed impossible, felt achievable once the math was out there. Yes, I can make time for 45 minutes of reading a day!
Thank you Mindvalley for helping me start this new fire for reading and learning!!

What about the understanding part of the reading? I mean, the reason why I last more than I should reading a book is because most of the time I need to go back to some of the content I have already read because I think it is important to comprehen very well and not just to forget it...

Reading is not equal to learning, learning from a book requires more time than that

Hi Jim!

Your video basically conveys the following bottom-line: Read a book 45 minutes a day, for seven days and you will be able to read one book a week. As you say, this can be done without speed reading and it would allow one to achieve the same monthly rate of an average CEO, who is capable of reading up to 4 books a month.

Now, my objections. First, it all depends on what book one is reading. Is it a romance? Is it an essay? Is it an easy-to-read book that wants to divulge with easy language scientific knowledge? Or is an university textbook that a student in law or in math or in physics or in engineering is supposed to use for preparing an exam?

Second, assuming that one is totally focused and concentrated on every single word and that one is reading at a speed that still allows full comprehension of the text and if we assume that one is not taking any note at margin, i do not believe that one could possibly read at a higher rate than 20 pages per 45 minutes - and this is an amazing rate!

Consider that if i have to read and fully grasp the meaning of any math textbook, if i read at a pace of 12 pages per hour that's a top performance rate...

So, if we make a weak assumption of 20 pages per 45 minutes, that implies a total of 140 pages per week. I personally do not know any book with that number of pages.

Even if you read an easy romance, i do not believe one could possibly finish the book in one week at that pace.

Don't misunderstand me: the tactic of devoting 45 minutes a day works very well in general because fosters commitment. What i do not believe is realistic is to read at that pace an entire book while still keeping high the comprehension.

And, when i talk about comprehension i mean something deeper than simply passively acquire factual knowledge. Active knowledge requires questioning, making inferences and so on. I presume the figures you have used at the beginning of the video regarding the speed of CEOs do not take into account how they get knowledge out of those books. Probably they skim over uninteresting pages and jump from chapter to chapter to grasp the overall idea and to "land" only on those parts that promise to deliver something specific they are looking for.
Have a good day!

Love that you point out that reading is a form of self care and should be prioritized with a schedule.

Saw this as an ad and just had to find the actual video to give you a thumbs up. I absolutely love this concept and sincerely hope it encourages more people to read. It’s my favorite pastime and I want others to discover the same joy I find in reading💕

I read about 20 books a year. And I read it thoroughly. Making notes, highlighting and ruminating about the books that I've read.
