Different culture to the US. Remember this is a recruitment video. If they did the American thing of screaming in your face and all that blatant heirarchy stuff young Aussies would tell them where they can jam their navy. Compared to the army, depending on the job they end up with, the fitness regime isn't as tough, because it's not generally required. It is however much harder than this will have you believe. For example the beach games is not training. That's just time out fun.

As a member of the RAN and a officer. it was one of the best times I've ever had, and people may say soft but we use minds over matter.

If only recruit school for general entry sailors was like this hahahaha! Officer training is totally different. They train for leadership and emphasised teamwork. Search up Hmas Cerberus for a little glimpse but it is all kinda dulled down for the cameras.

TO ALL: Officers are basically not allowed to have tattoos, that is a practice across all branches in the US, this is true at least until you graduate, however, if you were to get some afterward, most probably they would affect their careers. By how much I don't know, If someone knows about this practice for officers in the NAVY, please comment. I was Captain in the US ARMY and in the ARMY National Guard in the Vietnam and post Vietnam era!
