The Top 10 BEST Places to live in Texas in 2023. If you're from California or New York and thinking of moving to Texas, these are the Best Cities and Small Towns to move to!

In order to determine which Texas cities and towns are the best (and worst), I analyze a few categories including their economy, cost of living, crime and safety, health, education, and quality of life. I also implemented my personal experiences and the pros and cons of each location.

My biggest suggestion is to visit these places first to decide where you want to move to and live.

And if you thought Texas was just cowboys and Tex-Mex, you couldn't be more wrong! The 2nd LARGEST state by both area and population has had tons of young professionals and families moving in due to the affordability, great schools, BOOMING job market, and warm weather, making it one of the fastest growing states! With a HUGE influx of Californians relocating to Austin, Dallas, Houston, El Paso & San Antonio!

i moved to austin when i was 26 years old and left when i was 49 (1977 to 2000)....an under statement is that it has changed drastically....i left in 2000 because of ALL the things you listed as reasons to move advice to young people is to get your money organized and move to the country....living in a county where there is/are more trees than cars is soooo rewarding...

Me living in TX, watching this and wondering how the hell did they get all these pictures of the cities and no road construction. Corpus alone has been under road construction for the last 45 years of my life.

What about Mansfield? That part of Texas is amazing! They are also known for having a highly-rated school system.

Houston's road infrastructure is actually more efficient at preventing lengthy traffic jams than most other big cities. I drive a truck all over the country and Houston isn't bad at all, not saying there isn't traffic, it just moves far quicker than other places when there is traffic.

The Woodlands is rated #1 by NIche Magazine that my great Uncle George Mitchell built. He constructed the Cynthia Woods Mitchell amphitheater also rated #1 in the world acoustically. He also donated a 1600 ac. nature preserve bearing his name, as does the 1-45. He's one of Texas' greatest of all time benefactors; donating over a billion dollars to Texas A & M. Love ya, Uncle George!

Texans (and my family) always brag about the no taxes in TX, but the car and house taxes MORE than make up for it. I've looked into moving and between the increase to taxes and cost of insurance, it's going to cost me like $10K more a year.

I wouldn't call San Marcos a suburb of Austin. It's actually kind of its own unique place with a historic city square and courthouse. LBJ went to school and taught in San Marcos as well.

The San Marcos River runs through the center of town and you can go tubing or kayaking.

My best friend went to Texas State and we're from SATX. San Marcos is pretty cool though. Especially if you're young and like to party! The apartment complexes there throw raging pool parties where they have built-in beer pong tables. Pretty cool. If you want the same area but quieter, go to Wimberley.

I was bornDed and raised in Texas (Dallas/Fort Worth area) and lived there past the age of 28. Moved away in Spring, 1982. Since then, , I've lived in Arizona, , , California, , Washington State, , and I now live in Hawaii (have lived here since early 2017 now). Just the same, I still possess a keen interest (and fascination) with MANY of the Texas cities and towns. However I'm surprised that towns such as Bryan/College Station, , , Waco, , and Amarillo didn't make that list.

Great weather? Are you kidding...I've lived here all my life and the summers are miserable!

San Martian here: Be prepared for horrible drivers (college students and senior citizens) and construction. Also trains bring the entire town to standstill.

Thanks for doing this list! Even though I live in Utah, I was actually born in the DFW area in Texas.
