Aurion wasn't the only non-Targaryen dragon lord to survive the Doom either. There were many dragonlords and dragons on Lys at the time. Somehow the commoners of Lys learned of the doom before their overlords and used the opportunity to kill all the dragonlords in their beds and to slay the dragons while they were chained up in their dragon stables. To me that is the biggest hint that the Doom was not accident but part of a conspiracy.

Man could've probably allied with the Targaryens and United Essos before the Dothraaki invaded and caused the Century of Blood. Him and the Targaryens were the last of the Dragonlords lol and most of the great dragons got wiped out.
