Balond'Or has no standard operating system, it is truly a political award. I seriously think the voting is rigged.
Instead of people voting the player, there should be certain point system based on the goals scored, assists, chances created, interceptions, mvp of the match, and saves made.
If all these stats are indicated by points, it will even encourage the players to do their best because they'd know their tally throughout.
Until such standard operating system is laid it will forever be controversial due to which the credibility of the former winners will always be questioned.

I think that both players fully deserved this award. Happy with whatever happened and I think because Messi won it, people underestimate how tough it is to win a world cup, especially when it's mid-season. I think that what Messi did for argentina was magical and how come nobody complained when R9 won the ballon d'or in 2002 but it suddenly becomes a problem when Messi wins it. I think there are just some people who just want to see Messi fail constantly and when he succeeds they would try and find anything that would make it seem unfair. Look at how people said that the wc was rigged and Messi shouldn't have won it. Things like this don't make sense. 2002 Ronaldo Nazario won the award as his peformance in world cup was good, 2018 Luka Modric won the award for being awarded best player in world cup. 2004 Shevchenko won the award with only one major trophy and 34 goal contribution. And in 2023 messi had best peformance in world cup, he was also awarded best player of world cup and he had 3 major trophy and 57 goal contribution. WELL DESERVED
