what thinning shears are & how to use them.

*key points:
•thinning shears (also called taper shears) remove bulk/weight, blend harsh lines, and add movement

•thinning shears do not change the length of a haircut

•they can be used on wet or dry hair- you can see lines better on dry hair

•for longer hair, it is best to stay away from the actual part line and around the hairline (when using these for shorter cuts like a basic men's cut, you can use them all over the head if needed)

•teeth are always on top when using thinning shears to avoid the line caused by the straight blade being visible

•always start in the middle of the hair - if you use these at the root area, you will have shorter pieces poking out

•you can use these horizontally or vertically

I love how straight forward and informative this video is! People these days love to add introductions to videos that should be simple and no need for intros. I love your video! No waste of time! Thank you thank you thank you!

I've always wanted to learn how to use thinning shears on myself. I have very bushy bulky hair and the hairdressers that I've gone to have never taken enough hair out. Even when I tell them to take more. This video is very helpful !

Thank you Brittnee! I have sooo much hair and sometimes my hairdresser who has very thin fine hair doesn’t take enough. I have to thin it myself. I also cut my bangs in between visits. I use thinning shears to soften my bangs. It’s all self taught and tips from you over the years. This is a good video to know more about using them. Thanks 💖

This was so helpful. I always have one side of my head that is really thick and the hairdressers never take off enough bulk. Had my husband watch this video and he was able to thin my hair out perfectly. I bought thinning shears a year ago, but was afraid to use them until I watched this. Thank you!
