What if DUNE 1984 was two films and cut as DUNE PART II trailer.
It's always vital to Get It In The Edit.

Wow, if anything I think this further convinced me how big of a part of Villeneuve's version's brilliance is in the sound-design.

I am quite sure that Lynch's version was quite epic for the time it came out.
I saw that movie as a kid and was confused af (understandably) and saw it again as an adult a few years ago before watching Villeneuve's and i am really surprised at how well the Lynch's movie has held up in comparison to today's advabced VFXs.

2024's worm riding: "BITCH HOLD THIS SHIT OR Y'ALL GONNNA DDIIIIE"
80's worm riding: "well, what a beautiful day here in townsville!"

Hype is the mind killer. But I can't resist in that case :)

I played Dune on my fathers old computer (he told me it was his favorite game when he was young) and I begged him to buy me Lynchs old movie... I LOVED it and I hoped so long for a new movie to come out and now here we are

This side-by-side is brilliantly done, and it really illustrates the pure power of editing. I keep looking at the ‘84 half of the screen and thinking, “I want to see THAT movie too!”

I love and appreciate all the versions of Dune for different reasons, but now I wonder what a tight, modern re-edit (along with skillful inclusion of the deleted scenes) might be able to cobble together from the ‘84 version.

Sean Young will always be among the most alluring visages to grace the screen.

I always found the 2000 mini series adaptation to be entertaining for some reason. It somehow intrigued me more than the 1984 movies. Regardless, the books are incredible.

This is fantastic! I like the juxtaposition of "The Sleeper Has Awakened"/"Long Live The Fighters".

Friend, i applaud you for this magnificent effort. What a great comparisson! The Lynch version really has some great stuff in it. it's a pity that the movie was ruined by the studio. As for Villeneuve, he has a great opportunity, I enjoyed the first movie, despite its imperfections. I just hope he will not squander this great chance. Here's to hope!

I've seen serious comments from people claiming the 1984 version is better. They must be out of their minds, tasteless, or just have not even seen the 2024 release but hate it for some absurd reason

I still like the David Lynch version. Was good contrary to the reviews and the initial box office. I like both versions now. Older and new.

Dude DUDE, the back to back, word for word shot of "LONG LIVE THE FIGHTERS" with "THE SLEEPER HAS AWAKENED" gave me fucking /chills/

Excellent job!

I actually really enjoyed the first part. The sound is huge part of it.

As a huge Lynch fan, I can appreciate some parts of his Dune but some parts are just inexcusable: Halleck going into battle holding a pug, rain at the end, Hawat's white cat antidote, Fremen never covering their faces and hair, Guild assistants sweeping up when the Guildsman leaves, the Harkonnen cow and midgets. LOL!!

It's a great film to watch completely stoned with the sound off.
