If you don’t have the Raspberry directly at hand (or no screen) and you need to make regular changes on it, it may be interesting to have access to the desktop from another computer (in addition to ssh)

For each method, I will explain how to set it up on your Raspberry Pi and how to access it from the main OS (Windows, Linux, Mac and even from your smartphones)

I tried the thonny solution from a wIn10 desktop to a headless RPI4 with ubuntu 20.04 LTS. The root window of Xming is running, I copied your Putty settings, but the thonny window does not show up. Is there anything else in xming I need to configure? Thanks for all your hard work!

Solution 2 doesn't work. when I enter my Pi's IP address in Remote Desktop, it says the computer is not recognized on the network.

Awesome! NoMachine really seems to be better! I had RDP working but the lag is as bad as VNC's. I was gonna be okay with it but I watched this video and gave NM a shot.

It still lags my RPi4 8GB w/Ubuntu Server w/Desktopify, but it's definitely better than RDP! I don't have to logout either. Watching YouTube videos is much more bearable as well.

Since I'm on 64bit, I had to download 'NoMachine for Raspberry ARMv8 DEB' instead. It wouldn't install correctly through the GUI installer so I tried terminal.
