There are other neotenic salamanders that don’t lose their gills, and they all live in Mexico. Anderson’s Salamander is one of them. They all look quite similar as they’re all related closely to Tiger Salamanders. Some Tiger Salamander populations are neotenic as well and they reach adulthood with gills, and they look almost identical as well.

My daughter and I have two, bought around 6 months apart. The older is a female called Nefertiti(Nefi💕) and the younger is a male named Toffee Popcorn(my little girl named them both😀). They are lovely little creatures and grow bigger than we expected, well our girl is a lot bigger than our boy but ever since we got him she has took on a mother role and is extremely protective over him…cutest thing ever💙
