I’ve been driving one just like yours in the states for 13 years. It’s a 2008. I love it!!! 220k miles and still going. Honestly never expected it to last this long. I hope yours hangs in there as well! Fun video!!!

What always amazes me is that (some) people buy a land rover, take it up the muddiest tracks they can find, then moan like hell when the thing breaks down or rusts away in front of them. The whole point of "off road" capability is it's there should you ever need it, not that it has to be taken up the side of a mountain just because it can.
If you really must go playing around in mud, take a 200 quid diesel corsa and when it finally gives up the ghost, buy another, and stop ruining perfectly good oldish land rovers which will last forever with a bit of kindness.

Jaguar X-type 2.2 TDCi (2004 - 2009) has the Mazda WL-T, PSA-engineered DW12 (non-interference I4) engine, aka Duratorq ZSD422 (Puma).
Mazda BT50 2.2 TDCi has the ZSD422 I4 engine (2011 - 2021).
Mazda BT50 3.2 TDCi has the ZSD422 I5 engine.
The Freelander LR2 2.2 has the Ford Duratorq 2.2 TDCi, based on the Mazda WL-T engine.

Freelander TD4 issues @ 161000km: cracked dashboard, blown egr cooler, leaking intercooler, #2 injector seal(?), electrical which disables interior lights and driver door window control module, headliner replaced, rotten egr to manifold inlet hose & clamp, starter serviced, sunroof motor gear cog broken, crankshaft sensor.
I service the engine, replaced all fluids and done the brake, powersteering and ATF. Outstanding are the Haldex 3 and rear diff fluids. Did the aux and cam belts, rollers and tensioners. Still a fairly dry engine. Doing service intervals of 10-15000 km.
Have towed a 1.6t caravan, no problem.

The engine is dependable imho. I loved the Jaguar 2.2 estate and am considering the BT50. Alas, it is what Landrover bolted onto and around the engine that gives the most trouble. The 6 sp Aisin AT is doing a good job so far. The engine will outlast the car, iff maintained. Fuel consumption varies, mixed is about 9-9.5L/100km, highway 7-8.5L/100km.

You can turn off the mirror dip, cycle through the trip screen on the instrument cluster using the button on the end of the indicator stalk, then use the seek buttons to go through the different options

I’ve had mine for 6.5 years now. Never thought I’d have a car for more than 2-3 but love it. It’s been brilliant. 32 mpg on average. 38 max on a run in my opinion. Corners are a nightmare though. 😢

None of the things you dislike are dislike me though. They’re all brilliant. The mirror drops are the best thing about it. 😅

I fitted Evoque wheels to mine a couple of years ago……they have a 10mm greater offset so they fill the arches better giving the car a visually better stance and cos of the 20mm wider track corner handling is also improved.

I love my FL2.. Great practical car. Not sure about your mpg my manual XS does 45 mpg no problem 50 on a run.

You can just program the mirrors what they should do or shouldn't do. No worries if you don't like the flip down when reversing.
A daily... stuff that. Use a bicycle and go off-roading on the Freelander.
Cheers.

that's 4 minutes of my life I'll
Never get back. If you buy a car to get from a to b then not much point reviewing it whilst trying to be top gear presenters,

Love the Clarkson style. We miss such a character.

My parents had one up until a week ago. I was 8/9 when the wheel bearings had to be replaced, then the reversing sensors packed up, then the fuel gauge stopped working, then the heated seats stopped working and the clutch randomly failed on a motorway slip road. It was very reliable indeed.

I love mine, however I have recently heard a loud spooling from the turbo, any ideas what this could be or is it normal?

This guy lost me when saying why would you want traction settings

Erm because you might want to go off road or in the snow etc.

Possibly the most pointless, worthless review, not just of this particular car, but of any vehicle, I've ever come across. 3 min 56 sec wasted out of my life.
