I just want it to be known that ADHD IS a disability, and while she seems really happy with her ADHD (which I’m so happy for her about!!) it’s way worse for some people, and we have a much tougher time with many things and less pros. It depends on the person, and no one should go around gaslighting people for hating their ADHD. For some people that is their truth.

I definitely am the type to hyper-focus on things I like to do but if it's something I slightly don't want to do I'm totally dissociated and inattentive. I also have the memory of a goldfish and I'm super fidgety which can be annoying to others but I've stopped apologizing for something I cannot really control. Glad to see a woman talking about this, people need to know it's not just in boys <333

Also when I was so excited to tell my friends they were all like “DUH we already knew you had it!?” 😅

This just popped up on my timeline, and I’m thankful. My daughter just was diagnosed with ADHD not to long ago, and it can be challenging as a parent at times. This was helpful

This video really resonates with me. I’ve been seeing a therapist for anxiety and depression and I was told my symptoms right now and from the past sound like ADHD and I’m finally getting officially evaluated

ADHD Inattentive here. Thanks for speaking about this. Much of this I can echo in myself. It is a struggle. I was diagnosed in grade 4 and for all of my college years I refused to believe it still existed in me. It had, but it changed how I did things in life. I always saw it as a negative. Now I see it in the positive light that it can be.

My ADHD makes it hard to find romantic relationships (I’ve never had one); I feel like nobody can match my energy or I’m too much with too many interests

I have adhd for sure. In order to keep my adhd under control I became a minimalst. Im obsessive about being tidy and no clutter. I've learn to adapt, but some days are tough. I tend to make my days structured but not packed. I have hyper energy for things I love. I enjoy new things all the time. I am learning how to become a reseller and I go thrifting often. It's an experience that's new everyday, so I enjoy that. I take no meds but it's because I've learned through the years how to adapt. I'm visually impaired as well so adapting to limitations has always been apart of my life.

I handle mine well most of the time but the what I call “adhd meltdown” is awful. The point where you need sleep but your over tierd and your body goes into a fight of flight state your arms and legs physically hurt like you need to kick and punch over and over but your in bed you need sleep and even physically running wouldn’t calm the feeling down it physically hurts every nerve is alight and shooting with pain etc. X

YES YES YES all of this!! I wasn’t diagnosed till my Sophomore HS Psych class when I discovered ADD bc I never fit the ADHD mold. And meds changed my life ☺️

Internalizing it, is an understatement for me. I ended up picking my skin unfortunately. Strict parents who didn't quite understand that it was serious when the doctor told them to bring my to a psychiatrist... It was a different time in the 90s, so I don't blame them. I'm just glad I got the help as an adult.

I'm the same, hyperfocusing on leathercrafting, nail sculpting and any other craft I've acquired in my life. Just hearing how much I relate to others is comforting.

There’s so much more to ADHD than attention deficit... emotional dysregulation, rejection sensitivity, procrastination, lack of motivation.. and being prone to addiction and depression because of all that. When I was growing up here in the US ADHD was over diagnosed in kids, and they were given stimulant drugs at a young age. Which is just fucking absurd and cruel. We need to be trained to learn to work with our brains and our energy levels.. and try to regulate dopamine in a natural way when possible.

I'm just starting to experience the time passing quickly thing now! I just switched adhd meds a couple of days ago. Hadn't actually realised that was what was happening until you mentioned it.

I also have ADHD. I have to say I fully love that they mentioned the fact that ADHD is different for everyone. Someone with ADHD may be able to sit down and read for a full day, sitting mostly still and focussed. They still have ADHD. I myself, was only recently diagnosed but I kind of always knew I had it. I just was never picked up on because of the fact that I was not a ADHD boy that was disruptive in class, I was an ADHD boy that got good grades and was not disruptive. It sucks it took until I was in college to get diagnosed. However, I did know stuff was wrong when I loved stimulus stuff. As she said, anything for an adrenaline rush is amazing for someone with ADHD.

I just recently got diagnosed after my adhd got super bad when I moved away from home and had no schedule because of covid. My hyper focusing combined with stress and avoidance made me stay up for 2 or 3 days for a year

Wow, your experience is so different from mine. I'm just extremely tired all the time and never have the mental energy to do anything.
