Both are great bikes. But, I'm part of the tribe. I have the Indian Super Chief Limited and zero regrets. Mine has the stage 2 performance kit and in sport mode it really moves. I would have liked more specious saddle bags, but it's no big deal and can always be easily changed. One of the things that had me look at Indian vs HD is that most Saturday afternoons 9 out of 10 cruisers you see are Harleys ridden by office workers dressed up in leather, buckles and chains. To each his own, but that's not me. Bottom line is you can't go wrong purchasing either brand. Ride safe and enjoy the road.👍

Definitely happens to me too. Problem is all bikes are good in a different way and one wants all of them.

I have a 2018 Heritage that I purchased new. For an older guy like me, the Heritage is light and nimble. If you take the saddlebags, rear seat and windshield off, you have a Softail Deluxe. I made quite a few modifications and upgrades on mine. I can't say enough good things about the bike. Also, there are a lot more H.D. dealerships around in the U.S than Indian. if you don't want to pay the full price of the Heritage new, I always recommend buying a used one with low miles.

Here in the USA, it appears that the price differential is near zero, unfortunately. Appears to be the case across the line for comparable models.

You can tour on anything, I did a lap around Oz in 2011 on a 883 Sportster on either of these it would be a piece of piss

I've got a 2016 Heritage Softail that I like very much, although I've ridden the 2024 version and the suspension is so sweet on the 2024 that nothing else really compares to it. That's a very comfortable bike. No cruiser has a big enough fuel tank but 18 litres is the absolute minimum. I would not be happy with the small tank of the Indian. The fit and finish of the Harley is much superior, but eventually Indian should catch up. I believe that the multi purpose digital display will be available soon on Harleys and that will be nice.

If the price is the same, do I choose Heritage Classic without hesitation?

Both look good, if I was cashed up and able to buy in this price range, I would probably lean towards the Low Rider ST

I've ridden the Super Chief, it's an excellent bike and handling is very good, if I had the money I'd have one in the garage.

I prefer the Indian Chief over the Heritage Classic, but I don't want to have to pay for non-locking saddle bags I'll never use. If I were to choose a lesser Indian, like the Chief Dark Horse, I'd lose the saddle bags, but also the spoke wheels I want. Another Chief may have spoke wheels, but it won't come with the touch screen and ride command. I also don't like that it doesn't have a dedicated break light instead using the turn signals as break lights. This is the first year for the Super Chief, maybe they will fix some of the most complained about issues in the future.

As owner of 2021 heritage I must warn about additional cost with extra parts. For instance, crash bars, stock grips are rubbish, especially if you want heated grips. Stock exhaust is quiet, not really harley sound. I think the biggest expense for most new owners is quality exhaust. Another item is often new windshield.
Handling wise I am always nicely surprised how nicely it handles.
Although I would be very interested in testing the indian too.
In your place a would decide only after testing both.

And Better Dealer network and a lot more aftermarket parts, I love Indian, but lack of dealer in my area made me go Harley Davidson, I love my Sport Glide it suits my riding style and has multiple looks

Indian is coming on strong throughout their lineup but between these two the Harley would be my choice.

wish HD would give up the studded look

I’d go a used 2017 Victory Judge and spend the savings on a new Triumph Speedmaster!

If I have to buy one it will be Harley Heritage or Roadking. The Harley engine looks beautifully made, it make you remain looking at that engine and it raise questions, the whole bike is head turner. The Indian it just look like a Harley.
