👉Residents here are struggling to make sense of Friday’s attacks that took place at two mosques, claimed at least 50 lives, left an equal number wounded, nearly a dozen of whom remain in critical care.
While the city is planning a major vigil and memorial Thursday, several community-driven memorials have been erected near the mosques, parks and throughout the city, allowing places for people to grieve. These monuments also provide an opportunity for the community to offer its support to Christchurch's small Muslim population.

To all the muslims watching this from overseas:
as New Zealanders, we have all been affected deeply by the tragedy that took place last week. The irony is that it has brought us much closer together as a multicultural/multi-religious society. Islam has become an integral part of our society and so the attack was not just on our muslim brothers and sisters, but our country as a whole....
I can assure you that the terrorist's actions and ideology does not reflect at all anyone in this society. There have been occasions in the past few days where communities, churches, and even Biker-gangs, have stood watch outside of mosques all around the country whilst muslims pray.
All muslims and refugees are welcome here in NZ!!!

What a beautiful country, in the least, that monster is sitting alone and bitter that he will be nobody in a cell. NZ will remain undivided and strong, despite everything. This is the only cure to terrorism. This and to only focus on these people and to treat the terrorists like someone who cant be named(bless Ardern for finally saying this!), someone who is forgotten. Forget his name and continue loving one another with the victims here and elsewhere in your spirits❤️🙏🏽 such a senseless tragedy; NZ is showing the world what it takes to get through it together.
