I actually feel like it’s a mark of respect, warrior to warrior, to not act scared or run away, but to calmly walk in a straight line to face the certain death that haka promises. It feels like the opposing team is trying to be worthy of such an intimidating and beautiful haka.

I am a 48 year old white American male and everytime I see someone perform a Haka it brings me to tears. I wish we had a culture so in tune with one another.

I was here during the game, and let me tell you, the camera does not do it justice. There's such a raw, fearsome warrior energy that comes off of these women. Hearing the shouts and singing is such an electrifying experience, especially in person.

As a classically trained vocalist and choir director, I LOVE their resonance and presence! Especially at the beginning! The third one sent chills through my whole body. I LOVE when women do haka. It’s so powerful.

Im Zulu and we chant the same way they do Haka. For us we do it mostly when we narrate personal or clan names or when we fight wars or struggle for freedom, It's always intense and meant to express deep emotions. Boy i love New Zealand for their great preservation of their Culture and tradition. Impressive.

As an American who doesn’t know much about this tradition, you can feel the emotion and power behind it. It’s beautiful.

Now this is what needs to be shown when people say Haka is a gimmick. Ka mate has been overused and people don’t care anymore. This is goosebumps. This is history. This is a story. So incredibly proud watching our Wāhine perform this, especially in front of a home crowd. So proud 👏🏻

To see the haka performed so well by the whole team (Māori, Pacifika, European), and then to receive affirmation from across the world is such a credit to our Women. Most of the Māori women in the team have been nurtured in our Maori culture - it 100% makes a difference to the delivery - and even the content. For our international viewers - The beginning part was a welcome to our visitors (with no irony intended related to the contest about to start) - this was spectacular. These words only make sense when you are speaking as 'home people' - so this part is unlikely to be performed when the haka is delivered like this there is no translation needed for the second part (lol).
