Adding this hoping it helps someone: At the end when you are connecting with the IP address you need to put in your local IP address which you can get by typing "hostname -I" in your Pi's terminal. I was putting the IP address I got from websites like "whatsmyipadress.com" etc which didnt work.

Hi there. I would like to use vnc to make my android tablet as a monitor for my raspberry pi. I can access the desktop via android but my inputs to the pi (mouse and keyboard) is not reflected to the tablet. Is there a way vnc can do this? Thanks.

Do you have to be connected to Internet? Could I just use a router and set up a private network?

*Edit:* Fixed it, but leaving this comment if anyone else has the same problem. The problem was that the router gave me the wrong IP for the Pi, type "ifconfig" (not "ip", but "if", not a typo!) in the terminal, hit enter and you should see your IP.
In my case, the router told me the IP was 192.168.10.208, but the Pi told me that it was 211. Obviously the IP will probably be different (192.168 should be the same).

I'm pretty sure I did everything right from the tutorial, but I still can't access it. VNC gives me an error: "Timed out waiting for a response from the computer".

VNC has been updated since this video, so maybe there's some setting there that's wrong? The OS I'm running on the pi3 is Rasbian, and considering that I didn't get any error I'm assuming it all went as planned on the Pi. I rebooted it, opened the console and opened the vino.desktop and it saved. I also unticked the things on dconfig and that saved as well.

Vino-server is running according to the Task Manager, so it really looks like a desktop problem.

When the RPi is not connected to any display and access it remotely, you can't change the resolution (656x416) which is kind of small. How can we make a bigger resolution as a default? thanks!

Hey. And if I want to control a Raspberry without desktop environment? Only a command line remote desktop?

I am able to get VNC to work. However, I need to have a monitor connected to the Raspberry to boot. Without a monitor connect it won't come up and VNC or SSH won't work. Having to connect a monitor each time I boot/reboot is very unpractical. I guess there is a setting to force it to boot no matter what peripherals are connected. Any ideas?

Hey Don, I was really hoping you could also do an in-depth video on the xrdp program, i heard it has some different properties and i cant seem to get it working (same with the VNC) for some reason the when i try to connect the xrdp shows up on my desktop, but when i connect it freezes and wont do anything. Anyone else who ever had this and maybe knows a solution?

With the Raspberry Pi wifi and bluetooth capabilities would I be able to connect the raspberry pi to wireless bluetooth speakers and control it remotely from anywhere in the world?

Hey, where can I get this holder for flash drives and sd cards? It's pretty nice!

Hey buddy, very nice video. can you do the same thing in reverse. That is connecting to your windows from your raspberry pi. In the first instance being able to control the screen and in the second instance as a separate session. the later is more important to me but any video help will be useful. Thanks, i am a new to this.

Will it let you use idle? I tried with TigerVNC and got some kind of authorization error, despite the fact I was root.
