To put it this way, Russia lost their Navy to a country without a Navy.

Before the war, Russian army was #2 in the world. After war started, Russian army was the #2 army in Ukraine.

Well, since the Russian army isn't even a match for the Ukrainian army fighting with one arm tied behind their backs, this question isn't even worth asking.

What Russian Army? They have had most of the most effective hardware destroyed in Ukraine, and that war has also killed almost all the experienced and capable Russian commanders. And as for the Air Force and Navy, Russia is not even close to the capabilities of the US.

I am a US Army vet. and our armed forces push education heavily. It works on a promotion points system. You get points for being good at physical fitness. Points for marksmanship. etc... But you get points for education as well. When I was enlisted it was impossible to get enough promotion points without having some kind of additional education. Example: I was a Military Police so I took college courses for a Law Enforcement Degree. Every installation that I was assigned to had an education center for soldiers.

You have an appreciation of America that too many Americans don’t have. God Bless.

Small unit leaders in American Army can actually make decisions to accomplish their given missions depending upon the situation.

Having served in the Navy during the Cold War (1980s) and having participated in the NATO Standing Naval Force went to university during the 90s, rejoined the army as an officer for 20 years of this century, and again did multinational training in the Caribbean and at the NATO school in Oberammergau Germany, and my experiences with the Canadian and American militaries (and all NATO countries) is that they always strive to improve and adapt to changes and advancements as they occur. They think critically and find novel solutions to any problem. I also noticed that most who serve in the militaries (army, navy and air force) of NATO have a sense of duty and pride in their service to their fellow countrymen and women and country. My impression of russian soldiers is they are in it for themselves only. It is that mentality that gives most other countries an advantage over the russian military....

Thanks Konstantin. A couple of years ago a Wagner force of over 400 (allegedly the Best of the Russian Armed Forces) went up against a smaller American Force. Results, 0 Americans dead, 100- 200 Russian KIA. Add in Ukrainian Partisans played a critical role in halting a 40 KM Russian Column in Feb. of 2022, that should begin to tell the tale.

Russian army is certainly "number two"
just not in the way they envisioned it.

I am also a son of immigrants and a first-generation American who has earned a BA and two Master's degrees. I am also a military veteran in two US military service branches.

To this day, the Colonel's story in this video is still part of the American dream. With hard work, education, equal opportunities, and desire, anyone can achieve what they want in the USA anytime.

Yes, it is not easy to get to the country as an immigrant, and you may face many obstacles. But you will get to the country if you are a true American at heart.

Both of my parents are American citizens now and love the country. My mother, who is suffering from memory loss, worked hard to obtain her citizenship and made it.

In active military service, I served in combat alongside a Russian and a Ukrainian immigrant. They were like brothers. They also achieved their goals and went further while remaining friends and brothers.

I see every day what separates us from the Russian military. It is more than weapon systems or tactics, levels of corruption, or training; it is the immigrant. The immigrants have given the USA a strength that brings human beings of all backgrounds together and provides them with the ability to become what they want to be, to live how they want to live. In turn, the nation gets the strongest people on the planet to become more than it was.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

What makes the US military far more lethal, agile, and systematically powerful is really the NCO Corps. Sergeants with advanced degrees, years of experience, professional education and training who can think and lead units absent of the officers when necessary. US officers do not have to engage in the day to operation of their units, secure in the assurance that their NCOs will operate and administrate their units and accomplish tactical tasks and missions on their behalf.

This is what allows COL Clemente and her peers to be what they are. They can put in the effort to get advanced degrees and expertise because they are not counting noses to make sure everyone showed back up on Monday, they are not worried about whether the rifles are still in the arms room, they don't worry over whether the unit fueled their vehicles before parking them. NCOs do that, managing the troops and leading by example.

The Russian Army, PLA, KPA, etc will NEVER be the same as long as officers have to steal to provide for themselves and also perform basic NCO duties at the unit level. It does not help that ideologically, educated officers and NCOs are seen as a threat to their systems.

An American general once said the most valuable soldier on the battlefield is not the officers, but the privates. I have two adopted Russian sons from Khabarovsk. My heart bleeds for the privates in this war!

It is more basic than that. The first thing every American officer learns “Troops eat first”

Thank you for your time, for your courage, for your resilience. This matters so much. I am using your videos to explain things clearly to others in a way that I cannot do myself. It has special meaning coming from someone who used to live in Russia. Have faith that things can change very quickly and positively for you and your family - you do not and cannot figure out everything at once. Thousands are with you, please keep it up!!!

Russian forces had every advantage over Ukraine and still took a year to destroy the town of Bakhmut. Russians took massive casualties at a ratio of 7 or 8 to 1. The US forces would inflict 800 or 1000 to 1 on Russians. This headline question is kind of silly.
