That must be so frightening for people with schizophrenia, and other psychiatric disorders, knowing that they have NO control over their own thoughts. The problem is, many of them stop taking their medications, because they feel better, once those meds kick in, or they stop them, because they don't like the side effects from the medication. For many people with psychiatric conditions, the medication(s) is/are a lifelong obligation.
Just like somebody, who has to take medications for the rest of their life, because they have high blood pressure, heart disease, or diabetes, etc., people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and patients with many other psychiatric disorders, HAVE to STAY on medication FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES.
Mental illness should NOT be stigmatized in our society, because it is an ILLNESS, A DISEASE, like many other diseases. It requires frequent monitoring, and medication management, to keep the patient sympton-free. 😮😢😢
