To get this out of the way, no, the Prince (Prince Florian) was not 31 when he first met Snow White. He's actually 18 years old. While it's still not an appropriate number, it's at least better than how old he's presumed to be by popular belief.

This evidence comes straight from a book called The Art Of Walt Disney: A Special Collection written by Christopher Finch. The book itself is compiled with and chronicles the artistic achievements and history of Walt Disney. In it, there is an outline that references both Snow White and Prince Florian's ages that were concieved back in 1934. So a few years before the film was released. And both of their ages were stated as being 14 and 18 years old respectively.

From what I could gather, the whole "Prince Florian is 31" thing got started by a tweet (I will not mention the user by name for privacy reasons) which sited one or two articles that do not site they're own sources, nor even explain the reasonings behind this "fact".

One last notable detail, the idea of a 14 year old marrying, or even dating, a 31 year old would've been seen as taboo back in the 1930's. Regardless of the time period the original fairytale was first created in, there was a bit more sensibility and propriety when it came to marriage in 1930's America, with the age of consent at the time commonly being 18 years old. With Walt Disney himself being a good faith Christian, I doubt that he would've approved of such an inappropriate pairing in his first animated film, especially one that he risked everything on being a success.

Although prince florian is 31 and Snow White is 14 it is appropriate to the time period, as young princesses would be married even to men that where in their 50s or 60s. It is in fact inappropriate and maybe not such a good role model for young ones today. But we still love these movies

None of those ages were really concerning to me. People seem to forget that the time periods portrayed in those movies are completely different from our time period. Those ages (and age gaps) were perfectly normal for those periods

You should take the lyrics to Be My Guest with several pinches of salt. You see it's NOT about wherever The Beast was 10 when the beast curse happened, but when the last time they had guests. They didn't say it was because of the curse or something else. It simply could be that when Beast were 10, something happened, possibly his parents died and that, along with him being spoiled rotten, made him extremely bitter, not wanting to welcome guests to his castle. If you look at the portrait and the stain glass window, he doesn't look like 10 there but at least 15 or 16. Why is it that so many believe that the curse happened 10 years before the story? Damn, people take things too literally instead of reading in-between the lines!

Regarding the age of the objects (Lumiére, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts, Chip and the others), it makes sense that they didn't age when they were transformed into objects, hence why Chip hasn't aged. Sure, Mrs Pott looks a lot older than she should she might have Chip at a late age and/or got aged due to stress. Would make sense having such a demanding master who was constantly pampered to keep him on his good side, condsindering how aggressive he was as a Beast before Belle managed to tame him and made him more human (figuritvely at first). Note that the narrator pointed out that The Prince was spoiled, selfish and mean in the prolouge hence why he wasn't too nice toward the old hag, starting the whole mess.

To go along with the miss potts age. In the real version of beauty and the beast, when le foo (gastons apprentice) goes to the castle with gaston and said "you must be the talking tea cup, and you must be his grandmother" and then mrs potts freaks out and yells "GRANMOTHER?? ATTACK!" So she didnt like the idea of being a grandmother.
