You say the ages of the cast are concerning but if they are period appropriate the ages make sense. People used to marry much younger and have kids much younger due to the way shorter life expectancy, there have been child rulers and emperors before. Modern day standards can't be applied to historical context.

Odd, my childhood is still fine after watching this, it's almost if I understand context and intent as well as the difference between reality and fiction.

The original Hans Christian Andersen story of the "Snow Queen, " Elsa was supposed to be the villain.

All honesty, every time I hear about Walt's mom, I tear up. That is such a tragic story, especially when you read the accounts that it absolutely broke the man.

i want to end with miss information. I have seen this example being used in a careless way several times. NOT ONLY IS DUMBO AND THE SCENE WITH THE BIRDS NOT RACIST, ITS ALSO AHEAD OF ITS TIME. At that time, usually black characters were depicted as the villian, or simply evil, if even depicted at all. Plus, USUALLY when portrated this characters, they were voiced by white poeple. The parrots in Dumbo were one of the first black characters to be helpfull to the main protagonist, AND were voiced by black voice actors. In todays standarts of course it's out of the question that neither of those things are remarcable or should be praised for. BUT THIS WAS 1941. Dumbo was an unusual assembly, WAY AHEAD OF IT TIME. so i love your channel, BUT STOP SPREADING THIS CLIP AND STIGMATIZING one of Disney classics. (possibly no one is going to read this text but to anyone that does, thank you)

for me I've always been aware of the stereotypes that Disney has characterized. However, i never saw it as racism in a bad light, the way i saw it was them addressing things and kind of shoving it in our face. An example is this, I'm Native American, so the Peter Pan scene to me was more of Disney taking a stereotype and pointing out how little anyone really knew about the culture. (This is something still done today, I've had a couple of foreigners ask if i lived in a Tipi, and they were actually serious.) It is how the song starts after all. As for Pocahontas, anything that brings attention to American history and especially the Native American side of it, which is usually over shadowed and often forgotten, is a good thing. If people watching the princess and the frog take interest and learn more about the south during that period then there is a point to it. To me that is how I've seen many of what others think of as controversial. Perspective is a powerful thing, and for me it was less about bigotry and more of them pointing how those differences weren't really there just what we perceived as being there. Whether that was how it was intended or not that was how i took it.

Also, there is something to be said of being true to history versus politically correct. So as far as the ages go, its not really offensive. It's not right and i don't like it, but you can't change history or how we acted in the past, we can only learn from it. Sticking our heads in the sand and pretending it doesn't exist or didn't happen solves nothing and changes even less.

My childhood is intact.

Then again, I'm not an over-sensitive pleb.

About the racism part, Disney lived in a time where that was acceptable.

When I was little, in the scene from The Hunchback of Notre Dame where Frollo confronts Esmerelda in the cathedral, I used to think, “ugh this guy is evil and weird!” But... rewatching it once I’m older, all I can think about is how much that scene went over everyone’s heads as children, and we were all scared from learning the true meaning of that scene. *Yikes*
