No one is even talking about special education. My cousin has severe autism and asthma. He refuses to wear a mask because he can't stand it. He is unable to comprehend even the most basic hygiene procedures. If he contracts this, he will definitely pass it on to us, and he will likely be hospitalized due to his asthma. Children with special needs should be considered as well!

I prefer my children a year behind in school than to lose any of them. And I think they could serve as a transport to the virus to every home in US.

My children will not be going back to school this year. I may even keep my youngest out for her remaining 3 yrs (she's in highschool) until I have further information, I don't feel confident in doing so anytime soon. And P.S. trump does not care about us, nor our children.

Until they get this under control my child will not be returning to school. Kids got one another sick before this ever happened!

As a teacher the safety of my students is my top priority. I worry about social distancing 34 students in one classroom. You guys want to help me figure that out? Maybe year round rotation?

Anybody, even people without children, know what it is like to be near kids during flu season. One year, despite the vaccine, my friend's 3yo gave me the flu 5 times. five! Kids are social-distancing-antimatter.

The "temperature test" means that the child is symptomatic. But we/they can transmit the virus when asymptomatic i.e. before they have a fever or cough. Is this being glossed over?

Why it’s difficult to put kids who spread fluids better than a firehose in a spatially cramped building... BECAUSE YOU SHOULDN’T. This is absolutely stupid. Those kids are as good as dead.

Glad I do not have school age children. Look at what is happening now. Children do die from this. I would home school.

I’m a teacher. All summer I’m healthy. We get back to school in September. By October I’m very sick with a respiratory illness. Kids are very effective germ spreaders!

I'm scared too. I have a 3rd grader and one starting kindergarten. I'm a lung cancer survivor already at 31. It could be deadly for me if I get sick let alone my babies

Try telling a five year old to wear a mask all day.
They can't even keep mittens on in the winter.

The way education in schools has gone directly downhill over the past several years, I wouldn't have a problem teaching them at home. The real problem is that we have also become a country that forces every family member to work two or three jobs each, so very few can stay home TO teach. This virus is bringing to light several problems we have in this country such as this school issue, work issues, our food supply chain, our healthcare and I'm sure more that I'm not thinking of at the moment.

If we had a president that actually told the truth, and actually listened to the medical experts from the very beginning, reopening the schools in the fall would not be an issue.

Public schools have on average 35 students in a HS class. How do you maintain 6ft distance ?? And all of a sudden parents are realizing how much teachers do. It’s about time we teachers get the respect!! Hope you remember this. Also elementary schools share every germ and bug among students on a regular basis let alone this!
