Why is Eating Healthy so Hard?

In this week's video I am going to go over all the reasons it is so difficult to make healthy changes to your diet. I get it. I understand the deck is stacked against you to make those healthy habits stick. The fast food / restaurant industry doesn't want you to eat healthy, they just want you to keep coming back for more food. The food production industry wants to keep buying their products in the grocery store. The diet industry wants you to keep purchasing their weight loss products and even the medical industry doesn't isn't always invested in giving you the proper tools to make healthy changes stick.

So I understand your struggles and today I want to go over 6 reasons why making healthy diet changes is difficult. Knowledge is power and knowing how to break these barriers is key to living your best healthy lifestyle.

Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”. The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way.

I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.

Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and YouTube sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 YouTube subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

For me, the most difficult hurdle is using the fresh food before it goes bad!

I find that eating healthy is often less expensive for me in the long run. It takes planning ahead, like watching the store ads, making a weekly menu, using coupns, etc. I eat less, and I feel better. But it's not as much fun as eating whatever I want, and not having to plan ahead.
