Love the idea that they sent the books and a letter basically saying "please for the love of God. Stop sending us messages" and Andy is just "guess I'll send 2 a week now"

I like that "we now consider the matter closed, please stop sending us letters"

Andy has such a great smile. Pity he has precious little to smile about, and each of the few times he does, there's sadness in his eyes.

That's one thing where Shawshank gets it right. The guards aren't all jackboot grunts with sadistic tendencies. They are portrayed as guys with a job description. It was clear early on in the movie that this was Frank Darabont's intent with the tax returns, etc. The atmosphere of guard and inmate with occasional light fraternization becomes somehow real to us.

The way Hadley stares at Andy while he's reading that letter. 😂. Never broke eye contact

This nice guard should be the new captain after Hadley finally gets arrested 😊

1:01 always liked this part. Wholesome guard.

The term "fuckstick" is, unironically, a pretty funny insult.

I’d never heard term “pinch a loaf” until this movie.

"I want you to clear up this mess that would probably take even 2 or 3 people a good 10 - 15 minutes to clear out before I'm done pinching a loaf"

Hadley and nice guard shows two different sides of being a guard. Prison can dehumanize people, and Hadley transferred that inhumanity to the guards. He is an incarnation of absolute power which corrupts beyond repair, and guards were also made to act like him, because he is their captain and leader. That nice guard shows that some people try to be nice, and maybe there is some hope left for the guards and prisoners if more guards would be more like that nice guard (strict, but not sadistic brute), prison would be a little bit more humane

I love how this movie puts Shawshank in a different dimension. Crazy yo hear Andy saying "It ONLY took 6 years" like it was nothing... but there, time goes so different...

Mr. Dufresne, please stop sending letters. Andy, I'll send two letters a week instead of one 😂🤣
