How much did I pay to build a new shop? It is a 24x32 with 9' tall ceilings, concrete floor, drywall wall and ceiling, 2x4 studs, led lighting works well for a shop to work on cars, trucks and utvs for me. Would make a great garage for just storage aswell though.

He said 7000 for just the shell of the garage including the door. But it was 13000 with the concrete and drywall and lights.

For contrast: My 28x30 shop was 16.5K (2014 money) for the shell, with two 10' wide garage doors. Work was done by a local contractor who specializes in garages and outbuildings. Price included the concrete work, plus a 24x12 pad in front of the doors. Think the electrical was about $2500 (subbed out). Finished the inside myself, don't remember exactly how much that cost because it was spread out over several months. Maybe a grand or $1200 for insulation, drywall and paint.

In contrast: in 2022 I just received a quote for a basic 2-car garage. It came at $300K.

Congrat you did it by yourself, diy project are fun.... however you said its rather used as a workshop for your car, then a metal workbench is a must. (welding and other things) Also drywall is going to mold in this bad choice in a personal working shop.... I'm building a 24x34 garage by myslef, two garage doors on the 34' wall is giving me a lot of space for two trucks, for workbench and other things.... one door have a lift.... Anyway, you did it by yourself and it was your first one, , so still did a good

Good video. That’s the exact size I’m looking to have built too. And yes, when I do I’ll also wait for 11% off at Menards as well. Nice to have a good visual of that size.

Thanks for posting this, we are moving and also will need to build a better garage. I did not realize that Menards had these kits. I'll check into them for sure.

If you read this, you may consider putting Formica on your work bench. That way you can wipe off the oil or anything you spill.

We started our 24X30 pre-COVID, but the price of lumber tripled after. What started out at $25000.00 ended up at $28000.00 unfinished. That's including an 18ft garage door and wired. Hopefully insulation and finished in the next couple years.

Thats a nice size. I plan to put up the largest and highest that our local zoning allows. Scissor trusses will allow me to get the min 12ft height for the car lift without going up too high with exterior elevation. I think 2 doors make better sense than a single huge 16ft door. Im sure my only regret will be that I didnt build it 20 years ago. Imo, a nice garage is more important that a nice house🙂

I built a tent garage on pallets with a floor on top of the pallets, then I bolted the tent garage to the pallets. I put a tarp under the floor to keep moisture away from the plywood and away from my under car.

You should go with 2x6 studs, 10 foot high ceiling, 8 foot high doors,

I'm looking into those steel commercial kits like 40' by 30" for $10, 000 before site prep and foundation down here in Florida.
