The cost of healthcare in America is absolutely shameful

Now I understand why Spider-Man didn't go to a hospital even after a radioactive spider bit him.

For everybody watching: That's just the hospital fees. The doctor fees (from the OB and the anesthesiologist) will be two more bills.

My parents kept the bill from when my brother was born in 1958. Their out of pocket expense was $17.00!!

As a sri lankan i feel really proud of my country. We may be lot poor and smaller than usa, But it doesnt cost a penny for a mother to deliver her baby in a hospital.

In the UK:
-Induction, 9 days stay, too many complications to mention, including surgery for hours, intubation, etc. Cost for everything: 6 days of parking.
-Elective cesarean, 3 days stay. Cost: 3 days of parking.
Health care should be a right, not a luxury. Love to everyone.

My last child was an emergency c-section and she required 64 days in the NICU afterwards. Our total cost before insurance was $649, 000. We hit our out of pocket maximum with just that bill and are still paying on it. She turned 5 last week. We will be paying on that bill for another few years.

Not to mention the care she required after discharge and the surgery she needed at 6 months old.

Our Healthcare costs are ridiculous and inexcusable.

I gave birth 4 times, didnt pay for anything. Our health care is free, i live in a small country in Central Europe. We stay about 4 days in the hospital if everyting is ok with the baby, you get four cooked meals during the day.And full support from a medical team that helped deliver the baby

I never knew that medical bills in the U.S. were this high. I live in Germany and recently asked my parents how my birth went down and how much they‘ve had to pay, they didn‘t pay a single penny, even though my mom had complications and had to get a c-section. She even was under anesthesia, it‘s really horrible how U.S. citizens have to literally pay all of their savings, especially after reading so many comments

I gave birth in Australia... it was emergency cesarean and got minor complication my BP drop to 40/60 and me and my newly birth son got fever and under medication. I stayed in the hospital for 4 nights it was in private room and all our medications, milk formula and nappies are all supplied by the hospital for free and the only amount we payed is $40 ( for the medications i needed to take home) thank you Lord for the healthcare system in Australia

Wow that is just crazy to me. I live in Australia 🇦🇺 and there is zero cost to have a baby.
There is only a cost if you choose to have a cesarean (emergency or medical required is free) or go to a private hospital etc but your health insurance would cover that as well.
How do people afford to even have kids if that’s the cost.

I think you’ll get a separate bill from the anesthesiologist

Here in the UK, we pay for hospital care essentially through National Insurance contributions which are deducted from our job wages (paychecks for Americans). So we don't get any nasty surprises with huge bills coming through the door

Just to say, if you have twins, they just double everything then add a ton of bs charges.
Our total at Medical City Dallas was ~$134k.
