Hey! You used my intro, thanks Gerald!

the wisdom imparted in the final thoughts. it should be a staple of every reviewer and consumer. The endless discussions we have outside of that, produce nothing but a waste of time. Respect.

Big Gerald, did I miss the section on stabilisation? The lack of IBIS and only cropped digital stabilisation are big negatives, surely? Also, a better comparison when talking about price is the A6700, which is much cheaper than the FX30 but has 4K 120p, an EVF and IBIS. I think that it's $400 more than this camera but what you get for it seem worth it.

Glad I switched my main cam to the A6700 back in December. It’s worth the extra $400, and at the same time you get a better hybrid camera with the A6700. And as much as I’ve seen things about that camera overheating, I’ve never actually been able to get it to overheat. The A6700 is a better buy.

I mean, I know this isn't a camcorder, but if I'm buying a video-centric camera, I would expect it to not overheat, which is why I would go for the FX30. If your just looking for a social media camera where you probably aren't recording for extended periods, awesome buy. Essentially what you summarized at the end. Thanks for the vid.

As an owner of two zve-10 I can really champion this form factor/model variant. Nowadays, I use them for streaming, although they have been used to film various corporate projects with no hesitation. Realistically, the mark 1 is still great, warts and all. If I was being asked to recommend a camera to someone I wouldn't hesitate in mentioning this for most users, as most people over imagine their use of cameras.

You're always the first review that I watch. Now you are even ahead Sony. Fantastic!

I'm so glad you still do these reviews in this style. While I appreciate your other video content I was really worried this format was going away. I know it's a lot of work, but we sure love it.

I own the original ZV-E10, and it's still a solid camera that I have used to film hours upon hours of A roll, B roll, and behind the scenes content for my college course (film student). I also have it plugged into a camlink and mounted on my desk when I'm on discord calls, outputting 4K25 S-Log2 for hours on end, in a room that depending on the time of year and how long my PC's been running can vary from 17C to 27C. Not once has this thing ever overheated in its almost 2 years of continuous use.

I've also got an FX30, not used as much cause I got it later on, but when I have used it, admittedly not in massively taxing conditions yet, the cooling system worked, and that camera has not overheated for me either.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that the ZV-E10 II is a disappointment.

No Ibis, no EVF, removed the mechanical shutter, but gets a $200 price jump from ZVE10. Exceptional value indeed. /s

Thanks a lot for the extended overheating review. Would be great if you could come up with a chart comparing different camera systems according to sensor size that you have tested over the years :D

Gerald which codec and settings did you film your Overheating tests in? And was it all done in 10-bit 4:2:2? Thanks for making this video homie!

The vertical menu needs to come to a6700!!

so its a "worse 6700"

Sony: Lets put a 2h battery on it.
- Overheats in 11 min.

Remember that the overheating times is with the camera on. if you start /stop recording and just record 10 sec clips, but the camera stays on between, it will still overheat in those 15-60min.

Very comprehensive overheating tests!! Well done. So, to avoid direct sun, gotcha!

would be interested in the overheating comparison with the a6700 as mine overheats in a 25C indoor (4K/24) setup in just 35-40 minutes (with USB-power attached, battery door opened). I have to use the ulanzi cooler attached to it to have an unlimited runtime. It looks like this ZV-E10II does better.

Way too overpriced. A6700 is way better value with IBIS and AI
