This is exactly the video I needed, to compare the two cameras I have in mind. I already have an iPhone 15 Pro max and I’m a little intimidated to go with the Sony but I feel like it’s the obvious choice to be able to see what I’m recording and have better quality footage.

The workaround I found for my phone, though, is to mirror my phone to my MacBook to be able to see what I’m recording while my iPhone is mounted and recording.

it's called Apple Log, not ProRes Log

This is important, because using Black Magic Camera App, you can record in h.265 (codec) in Apple Log (color profile), which means you get smaller file sizes.

Using Black Magic Camera App, you also have the ability to use preview LUT's with the option of burning them in right away, meaning you may not even need to grade in post (but you also lose the ability to adjust the look).

You could also choose any of the different flavors of ProRes, HQ, LT, Proxy or regular.

i guess camera B as the Iphone straight away. Once u use mirrorless camera, u can definitely tell how "artificially" smartphone camera looks. no matter how expensive they are.

My issue is DPI and as far as I know iPhones can only crank out 72 DPI. I absolutely love that my ZV-1- puts out 350 dpi and gives me so much sharpness and opportunity to crop the image on the computer. I only use my iPhone images on social media as they fall apart even on my 1440p display. Since I need to produce images for the purposes of online print sales, there's no way I can use an iPhone.

I have a Sony A6400 with several lenses, but I bought an iPhone 16 pro because I have an out of country trip and I don't want to carry the extra weight and I'll already have this phone in my pocket. The best camera is the one you have with you.

I have a 15 Pro, am looking to get the ZV-E10 ii soon and will use both for A & B cameras to shoot piano performances / tutorials in good lighting.
And at some later point I'll introduce a third more expensive camera along with a motorised stand for camera movement.

For the untrained eyes, the iPhone seems better. But there is not even close to a bigger size sensor. The iPhone looks too much HDR, over-processed, and over-sharpened, the colors are way off, and even with prores, you will need a lot of work to achieve a professional look.

I would pay $5, 000 for apple to slam their 15 promax tech into a G7x body, flip up screen, fit in pocket and not awkward to hold / vlog like an iphone while having the canon onboard mic and retaining the apple stabilization tech.

That build would legit takeover the vlogging space and there would never need to be another camera made.

I bought an A6700 today with a 16-35 and it sucks because the stabilization when walking around and vlogging is no where NEAR as good as the 15 pro max. Even with stabilization on “max” on the sony. Have to return it because its just so hard to go back to that awful stabilization when the iphone is legit flawless while producing that kind of image in 4k 60
