On paper, Sony’s ZV-E10 II might look like a fairly minor upgrade over the original. However, nearly all of our issues with the ZV-E10 have been addressed with this new model. Is the best choice for a $1,000 camera for content creators? Chris Niccolls and Jordan Drake have done some testing, and have the answers.

There is no excuse for bad screens in 2024. It is time to make it usable in sunlight.

7:06 You can see that jello wobble from the electronic stabilization, even with the lens offering some stabilization.... not great.

How could they even forget to mention the Fujifilm Xs20 a spectacular hybrid Vlog camera.
6 k open gate, 422 10 bit, inbuilt stabilisation, all the newest film simulations, FLog 2 and the list goes on.

There is some weird just noticeable blurriness in this footage - just not as crisp as other cameras. At first I thought I set my YouTube playback resolution really low, but no. I'll stick with my Osmo Pocket 3.

The Lumix S9 was confusing but this one is great with no IBIS? Now that's confusing.

No mechanical shutter, No EVF, No IBIS, but $1000 body only. Easy money for Sony selling a bare bones entry level model in 4 digits because all the youtubers will tell you it is the best thing ever made because it is a Sony. I just can't brain the price jumps. A6400 was cheaper when it came out back in 2019. It is okay to omit those hardware from an entry level camera, but only as long the price reflects that.

No IBIS is a dealbreaker. In 2024, that's akin to lacking autofocus.

Honestly not sure if $400 is quite enough to justify all that (for general photography on a budget). For $900 it would be more convincing.
Also - you didn't even cover ports selection? And TALLY LAMP? What happened to you?

Edit: just watched couple of other videos and oh god, this is the most "first quick look" of all first quick looks, I expected more from you.

To anyone interested in MUCH more detail I'd recommend Mark Bennet's comprehensive review, it makes this camera make much more sense. And Gerald's for overheating tests.

You can’t be serious. Camera Conspiracies is gonna rip this to shreds. In 2024 a “vlogging” camera with no IBIS, no mechanical shutter, crop in 4K60, ridiculous crop in software stabilisation, measly 1MP LCD… c’mon guys 😂

I think the next great release from camera brands is a camera that doesn't record video neither take pictures 😁. And the reviewers will still call it the best vlogging camera

Damn, I was still hoping for a mechanical shutter. This would have been a great second body to my a6700. The mech shutter on the first one let it do a lot of cool stuff with flash and etc in such a cheap package

Am I crazy or does the Pana S9 seem like a better option here? Well it is more expensive.

This is a lot of marketing spin on something that has no IBIS for videography, no mechanical shutter for photography, comes with a mediocre screen, has no real HDMI, still has no front dial, has a weird zoom toggle that nobody asked for and overall isn't what actual creators asked for. Why?

No ibis what the…. Like removing the mech shutter is bad enough lol

My daughter moved to Calgary last year and doesn't send me many photos of her new locality. So the Petapixel review videos shot in and around Calgary keep me up to date. Thanks for that!

I have the original EV-10 and the thing is a glorified point & shoot camera. It's OK as long as we don't plan on using it in any lighting situation that would require us to take control. Setting up the MRs for your most often used settings is an excellent idea, but be aware that it saves these settings to the SD card, so if we change cards or format them, bye bye MR settings. Chris and Jordan did not mention if this had been dealt with in the version II camera, so beware.

The camera is designed for phone users looking to step up without having to learn anything about photography/videography. For that market segment it is great. For anyone who knows what they are doing, this camera will drive you nuts, new menu or old.

If you're wondering what happened to mine, I relegated it to a simple job that it doesn't screw up and one that I can set up an MR to manage the job. For anyone who is a real photographer/vidoegrapher looking for a real hybrid camera that can vlog as well, pay the extra and get the Fujifilm X-S20.
