PoV: It was her favorite room in Winterfell. She could see vast expanses of the north and east, and the birds were her only companions. She felt at home here, more than any other place in the castle

It had not been her choice to marry into the Stark family. The stories she had been told about honor, harsh and cold, had frightened her. The retainers they had sent to fetch her had laughed at her pretty summer clothes. "You'll need stronger than that to rest easy in Winterfell, " they had said bluntly. "Fur-lined boots, not slippers for dancing. Scarves of wool, not silk."

She had come with them dutifully though, the hot-tempered honor of her house at stake. And where she had expected a rough welcome, she had seen grace behind the blunt words.

She had lived there a year, working hard to accustom herself to the different mindset, when her husband asked her to climb the stairs into the tower. It had been a storage room at one time, but now glowed with well-scrubbed oak panels. "It is yours, my lady."

She looked at the furnishings in awe. "This is a room fit for a queen, " she replied. "The silks, the damask..."

"You brought most of them with you, " he pointed out. "You just needed a place to put them. Maybe this room will..." He trailed off, not able to find the words.

She walked over to him and kissed him heartily. Not one of the courtly, mannered, chaste kisses that she had seen her sisters engage in, but one that spoke fair, true, and bluntly.

"You like it, " he said.

"Aye, " she answered. "I do."

He had left her to the enjoyment of it; she had taken full advantage of it for months. But as one of her ladies had said, winter was coming. She had moved her musical instruments downstairs, and anything that would be harmed by the cold. She looked around for the last time for a while and prayed that she would be able to return soon.

"And, maybe, he will come here with me when summer returns again, " she said aloud. "If I can learn to love the cold, perhaps he can enjoy the beauty of the thaw."

She smiled and closed the shutters on the windows as the first snowflake drifted down.

I've been sick for a week now with the flu and today is particularly bad. I haven't been able to sleep well at all at night and my head feels like it's about to explode. And then I found this playlist. It's helped finally putting me to sleep and even though I wake up regularly I am much calmer and content than I'd be without, I can just lay there in a daze and be comforted by the music.
